well babymakes5 i quit smoking weed when i was 6 weeks pregnant... thats as soon as i found out! but for the first seix weeks i did it heavily.. and my doctor said it wont harm the baby .. he said not to quit smoking cigs right away because that can cause the baby to go through withdrawls and if i want to quit i need to do it slowly. but i still want to smoke weed every now and then specailly when im out with people and they are smoking it and im lik eAHHH i want that feeling! haha but i know that i cant so i jsut dont.. and yea its soo much easier when you can buy it one at a time! because then you dont haev the whole pack sitting at you.. maybe see if someone is willing to help you with that.. like if you buy a pack of smokes.. take three for the WHOLE WEEK and then you cant have anymore till the next week .. that might help .. |

Hey girls! Well it is 1pm and so far I haven't had a cig. I have taped up my cig case and put a note on it that says Just 10 more minutes, you can do it! I keep telling that to myself too in the hopes that it works. |

Hi ladies - I'm the one who posted on the other thread about cinnamon gum, Also try lemon hard candy if you can't easily get the cin. gum. I'm not pregnant now - my son will be ONE in a couple of weeks - but I have to say I'm so happy for all of you! When I was pregnant last year and anyone mention smoking on this site they were coming out of the woodwork ready to crucify you! I'm really glad there is a supportive atmosphere her now. I have one suggestion, though - make a new thread every week or two so this one thread does not become 900 entries long! That's what we do with the Plus Size Mommies thread. I know how hard it is to want to smoke and know that you shouldn't. Best tips: Don't smoke in your house; rations out your sokes for the day if you must (put 4 or however many smokes in the ash tray in the morning, and when they are gone, you don't smoke anymore for the day); try to put off that first smoke of the day as long as possible. Good luck to everyone, and I may drop in every now and then! |

aww sarebear.. it was DEIFNATLY hard giving up the weed buts its something you have to do right.. so you suck it up and do it and set a date for AFTER the baby to come out and you go out with your friends and do stuff you couldnt do when pregnant.. at least thats what gets me through it.. because i was pregnant through out my 19th birthday.. so i have a date two weeks after my baby is born where me and my girlfriends are going to a restraunt to order me birthday drinks! and then smoke a little weed.. and my loving boyfriend has offered to babysit ALL NIGHT!! yay |

Well here I am at the start of day 2, I am getting a few cravings so far, I am sure it will be worse after I have some food, but I am now determined. The physical addition to nicotene only lasts for 8 hours, after that it is all a mental addiction and a habit. How is everyone else going? |

Hey all! When I found out I was pregnant, I smoked my last cigarette (I'm an over-a-pack-a-day smoker normally), and then went about 6 weeks without even one. I did chew Nicorette occasionally, I know it isn't GOOD, but I figured it was better than a pack of cigarettes a day! Anyway, lately, I'll have one or two when I feel I'll need it, and ultra lights, rather than lights, which I normally smoked. I'll go a week or two without one, then go out to eat and feel like I NEED JUST ONE. haha. It's always just one at the time! My mom smoked with me and my brother, and my stepdad's mom smoked heavily with all 5 of her kids, so I'm betting that 1 every now and then is okay. I hope to just fall out of the habit completely soon. |

We seem to have quieted down a little here.... I managed to go 3 days without a cig and then I caved. I am now smoking more than I was before I tried to quit. Bleh! Maybe I should have tried Allen Carrs book again. How is everyone else doing? |

Hi gals! |

Can I join in? I'm not currently pregnant, and I don't currently smoke, but I did smoke when I found out I was pregnant with my now 16 month old daughter; I quit when I was 3-4 months pregnant with her. Now I'm having trouble keeping from starting smoking again. There's a lot going on in my world right now, and a big part of me just wants the release from stress that smoking always gave me. |

Hey Jamie, you are more than welcome to join, the more the merrier. I am attempting to quit again tomorrow and i have just finished my last cig. |

Jamie, I'm the same way right now. Me and my bf have been fighting constantly which adds stress, and even though he doesn't want me smoking at all, he says my mood is completely different when I am not smoking. I've been bad lately, smoking 2 - 3 a day. I NEED to quit. The guilt and 'what if' KILLS me everyday. And people who aren't in this situation really don't understand how hard it is. Sarebare, I'll be quitting with you, completely. I have to. Good luck to you. |

Hi everyone...I've been avoiding posting lately. Things are not good in my life right now (nothing to do with pregnancy), and so quitting has been put on a back burner, again! I hate that I cave in to the stresses in my life and continue to smoke, then feel guilty, then smoke again...it's such a vicious cycle. I do manage to stay between 5 - 7 a day, but that's not good enough!!! And I have a smoker's cough, which keeps me up at night--so every night I curse myself and say tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. Blah, blah, blah....I want one now. I'm totally with you Sarebare, alicia and excitednewmommy. Athough Alicia you seem to be able to keep it to quite the minimum amount which is good! When I was 23 and pregnant with my first one, I quit too. It was easy then, smoking for 5 years straight isn't really that long (long enough though!), and I quit for 10 years and had 2 more kids during that time!!! I just can't figure out why, now that I'm older, and definitely know better! that I just can't kick it again....I started up when I got divorced in 1997 and haven't been able to quit since....and have been wanting before I even got pg. Well enough sobbing...good luck everyone--hang in there! |

Well, I count 2 - 3 but really, I smoke HALF a cigarette 4 - 6 times a day... I'm usually okay after just a few drags so I can throw the rest out. Plus, it gets me thru the pack faster, and I always tell myself, "after this one, I'm done". Good luck to you, Babymakes5! |

Hey ladies. First off, you gals are awesome to have a support group on this site!! I'm so impressed! I hope you all reach the goals you are shooting for with the minimum discomfort. I had a really hard time when I was pg with my ds and I just prayed every day that God would protect my son from my weakness. He was born perfect and has stayed that way for the last 5 years, so I have to believe it helped! I also totally pigged out on sunflower seeds (Spitz makes a dill pickle flavored kind that are to die for!) and my Dr. said that was a great snack because you expend more calories eating them than they have! They also keep your mouth busy for those who have an oral fixation, which I do. And, they are packed with vitamin E! Anyway, I just wanted to wish you all the best of luck and congratulate you on the awesome example you are setting by humbly and bravely posting your struggles here! |
