Tubes Tied, But Feel Pregnant???

Hi everyone This is a topic that is probably pretty common on this website, for least an hour last night doing research and stumbled across a forum here from 2005 that was full of people with this same dilima. But here it goes.... I am almost 33 yrs old and have 3 children w/ the third child I had a tubal ( with the cauterized). I know from a pelvic ultrasound last Dec 17th that I have a 6 cm fibroid. But, my cycles have been pretty regular since my tubal, however for the last few years they have become very heavy for the first two days (go through an 18 cnt box of super plus tampax) and they also last 12-13 days (days 8-12 being light spotting). Anyways trying to get to the point.. My period in Sept and Oct were a little different and now my Nov 27th was even more different cuz my husband had stoped at the store to get my super plus tampons and i only had to use 4 out of the box and my period continued to be light and only lasted a normal 7 days. Here comes the climax to the story.....I FEEL PREGNANT. I know i got my period last month but it was very different. Symptoms include: Larger, fuller, heavier breast and my right one leaked yesterday clear fluid when i squeezed it; i have the little bumps on my areolas and areolas are inlarging slightly; nausea at bedtime; hungry alot; headaches; i have been extremely tired even with 8 hrs of sleep; even right now ive had oatmeal and im nauseous; i have to get up to pee in the middle of the night; and the biggest sign of all.....FLUTTERING/THUMPING/KICKING sensations in my lower abdomen.
Now, ladies for those of us who have been pregnant before know more than anyone what it feels like to be pregnant. RIGHT?
But get this ok...I went to my health department on the Dec 4th for a scheduled "physical" for a new job. I go in there and i first tell the assistant that Im having these symptoms, but didnt mention nausea only the fluttering and boob changes. Keep in mind I didnt tell them about my tubes being tied or my fibroid. Well, she asks me if I want a pap smear along with my physical ..and Im like YEAH SURE! So the PA not DOC comes in and she's obviously in a hurry and when I describe my symptoms she says "ITs probably your colon" im like huh what? She did a joke of a breast exam...my pap and pelvic took her about 2 secs it was awful! And she prescribed me Phenegrin for Nausea and I never told them I was nauseous. She then said "you know when somethings not right with your body so if you want i will order you an ultrasound" SURE OK!
I go for ultrasound the next day found out Tuesday that they saw my fibroid. They had also givin me a HCG test at the Health Dept. it was negative. Now, i could understand them telling me it was my colon if i didnt have the other symptoms...plus this is a lot of movement but the only thing is how come when the PA called me with my ultrasound results i asked her "so what about the feelings I have been having in my abdomin that you said was my colon?" She says "Oh it's probably your fibroid pushing on you." AHHHH
I have had the fibroid for some time now and its never done this....funny how she changes the diagnosis when convienient....and if she thought it was colon how come she didnt listen to my abdomen? How come she didnt order a gastrointestinal ultrasound instead? She didnt even do my work physical she just said she would print something out.

Im so confused and frustrated. I also noticed a little bit of the white discharge we get, no smell or anything. FYI my ultrasound was wacked too because the PA orderd both a transvaginal and outer. They told me to drink 32 ounces of water which i did, but then my bladder wasnt full enough for the outer one, so they started the trans and my bladder was too full, so i had to go pee. She started and couldnt find my uterus, but found my overies, then had me pee again cuz it was too full again. So the ultrasound was wacked and unlike any other in my life. This is all WACKED but i want to be pregnant again sooo bad and these symptoms are real not no psyeudocises or whatever they call it. ANd judging from all the other womens comments and other websites ....pregnancy after a tubal is possible....its all God's will.

So who has something similar going on with them or who has had an experience like mine in the past and what was the outcome.
Word of advice....have a good DoC and know your body and dont let them fill your head with bull

I have never had my tubes tied, but my mom got pregnant 7 years after having hers done. I have also known a woman who got pregnant after having her tubes done in 97 and a man who got his wife pregnant after his vasectomy. Both of these people had a thrid tube. The docs only look for two and think the job is complete. Since I have known two people with a third I assume it is not an uncommon occurance.
Just a word of caution to everyone.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that the PA orderd labs on me which came back normal, but she didnt order a blood HCG..kinda dumb i think since she orderd a transvaginal ultrasound. Oh well

about a week ago i was feeling the same flutters in my lower belly exactly the way it feels when your baby first starts kicking.for 3 days straight this was going on i couldnt even lay on my belly.then the next day.....got my period.i also have my tubes tied.

I have been pg three times since I got my tubes tied in Feb 06... so never say never!

Wow, see what I mean? Thanks for your comments. Wishinmom, I have been feeling these movements since before my last period on Nov 27th. Still feeling them and having all the same symtoms. The last couple weeks Ive been nauseous mostly at night and prenatal vitamin in the morning with breakfast makes it worse. I have also been breaking out for the last couple of weeks. Though its almost time for my AF, i usually dont break out this bad and not this early. Usually not until the first onset.
Also I went the Doc this past Friday. IT went much better. They listend to me and my symptoms and were helpful. I also told them my tubes were tied. She listend to my abdomen and didnt seem to hear or feel anything unusal. I went to the hospital for labs and had a blood HCG, Hormones, and CBC done. I should be hearing something before long. If Im not pregnant i will be very disappointed and very surprised. These symptoms are real and nothing like Ive had except with previous pregnancys. There is something going on with me one way or the other. Keep posting!

Oh yeah Wishinmom, was this period regular or different? My last one was much lighter and shorter. Also, if we get pregnant ectopically, the hormone may not show up and anyone can bleed during there pregnancy

I am basically in the same position-42, 3 children, tubes tied and cauterized! But I have been feeling pregant for a few weeks now. HPT are showing negative, ultrasound two weeks ago showed pea sized cyst on rt ovary, but some pain on left side goes unanswered as well. I have the very same fluttering/thumping feelings! Two cycles in January within 2 weeks of each - very, very different. Doc thinks I am psycho by this point because I am so sure that something is going on. No blood tests yet - I am uninsured unfortunately. Would ultrasound show every corner of uterus?
Please keep updating this forum thread-I am completely stumped at this point - I'm trying to convince myself, as is my doc, that it is peri-menepausal.

I am having the same kind of feeling's and I thought that maybe I was loseing my mind since my tubes have been tied and cauterized. I am having all the symptoms of being pregnant, I am gaining weight, mood swing's, headaches and my period is usually 7 day's exactally and my last one was only 2 day's and it was really light. I have 4 kid's total( 2 are twins's) so I know what I am feeling. The other day we was lying in bed and I had this knot in my side that felt like a foot or a hand. I have been sick to my stomach and have some crazy food craving's ( sushi ) I have never ever wanted sushi. I was alway's told that sometimes when you take a pregnancy test it might not show up that you are pregnant. I hate to go to the doctor because I dont want them to think I am crazy since my tube's are tied. I have heard of women getting pregnant when their tubes are tied and cauterized. Im just confussed. Please tell me what you think...

OMG I have the same problem natcap33 is having except no detection of fibroid...I got my tubes tied 16yrs ago...For the last couple months I've been feeling movement in my stomach but have been getting my period still..But last month my period was only 2 days..I had an ultrasound done and blood test doctor said she didn't see anything but my right tube was a little bit larger then the left which she claimed was normal...Blood work was negative.I still have been feeling movement even more on some days then others...I got my period yesterday but this time I have cramps which I don't get on my period usually its before not during..I felt movement alot the day before and still while on my period..My husband says its gas or maybe I have to go to bathroom but I know my body..I have 3 girls also 20,18,17...I'm 36yrs old and was young when i had my girls...My husband doesn't have any and this would be a blessing..But with no answers and no insurance it's driving me crazy...Don't know what else to do.

I've been researching on this because I had my tubes tied 6 years ago, I'm 34 years old. Before having my tubes tied, my period was very unnormal, usually got it only 3 or 4 times a year. After I had my tubes tied I have a 30 day cycle, my period was right on time every month for the last six years, but last month I didn't get one, and I have been feeling pregnant, I'm hungry all the time, but for ice cream and sweets, and I'm very tired, I can smell just about anything, but I'm not nausous. With my other pregnancies (3 kids - 14, 9 & 6) that was my first sign nausua. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative and last night I spotted just a tiny bit. No cramps. I want to wait to the end of the month before I go have a blood test, to see if my period comes this month, which should be in a week. Does anyone have any thoughts?

About 1 out of every 350 tubal ligations "fail", resulting in pregnancy. Of those, 60% are an ectopic pregnancy, which is life-threatening if not treated. Please, everyone be careful and see your doctor, especially if you are cramping alot. An ectopic does not usually release as much hormone, so a home pregnancy test might not detect it.
I too am feeling crazy for thinking I may be pregnant. I had a cut and cauterization over 5 years ago, but the last week I have been experiencing symptoms that, in the past, I have ONLY experienced during my first weeks of pregnancy..boobs hurting, crying at everything, nauseated. I am either pregnant or crazy...heck, maybe I'm both! :-)

I am curious...anyone that posted on this thread...were you pregnant??? I am 30 and have 3 children. I had my tubes tied in 2004. I have had horrible periods since then. September of 2008 I had an ablasion. I just recently (within the last week) experiencing breast pain, growth, and cramps. Everyone at work says I'm pregnant, I just laugh. But my husband can't even brush against my breast without me howling!! I only remember them hurting this much when I was pregnant. I am going to take a home pregnancy test when I wake up... I guess wish me luck. Oh yeah, I have a Dr. appt in August to discuss a histerectomy.

I thought I was pregnant for a few weeks, but never had a positive test. Turned out to be a Corpus luteum cyst in my right ovary, which can cause breast tenderness, nausea, emotional wackiness, and other early pregnancy symptoms. It ruptured/dissolved when my next period finally started. Pretty painful too, but not as painful as childbirth!!! In the end, and when the hormone levels went back to normal, I was mostly relieved that I was not pregnant. My youngest is starting Kindergarten this fall and I had always keep that as my sanity saver when things got stressful. A new baby would be wonderful, but I don't know if I have it in me to start all over again! :-)

I am kinda in same boat too natcap33.. around october of last year my periods got really strange and so heavy that i couldnt even stand up, i had to call off work and all..then around dec that changed and they got back to normal..sort of stayed normal till around april of this year,i had it begining of month like normal and when may come around nothing till end, i was like ok could of been where i was moving, then when june come around never had one at all, so far havent had one in july either, now this isnt normal for me..
ok now the thing is with me, I too have had a tubal 7 years ago after my son was born.. I was told around Nov. maybe earlier of last year that I have a fribroid tumor ( by a free clinic ) but i have had some signs as well of preg. of course when i talk to other people of this they just say of its probably cyst...anyways with all 3 of my pregs. i never had morning sickness, i have a little now sicksness to stomach but not all time...i have been very unusually tired lately, put on a little weight after i fought for 3 months last yr to take it off and a few times i thought and could have sworn i felt a little movement in my stomache like when a baby is moving around in begining stages of preg.
my major problem is i cant afford to go see a doc. i am not even sure i have the tumor without seeing a ob/gyn..if i was to be preg. it would worry me that its a tubal preg. and I am currently in a new relationship, well not so new ive been with him almost 2 yrs now and in begining we both agreed we didnt want no more kids, but now after seeing all the new babies born into my family and watching him act with some of them, I am kinda wanting one..sometimes i start to get hopeful, then srart to get panicy cause i dont want him to be mad..he doesnt know i have missed my periods...I'm really confused...i thought by taking a test at home would help me figure this out, but they all come back neg. but someone told me that with tubals, pee test dont read correctally...

ok..i have read all this and it explains so much..heres my story. 8 years ago I got my tubes tied. Im 35 and have 2 kids. 16 and 11. Well i am now with a guy hes wonderful. he has no kids and hes happy not having any. Well low and behold over the last couple of months I have been in severe pain when menstrating. Losing 2 to 3 days work every other month. it was getting rediculous. Well starting last month my periods were abnormal. I usually have heavy periods that lst 7 days. well the last 2 months they lasted only 4. last month i was in severe pain but just before I got my period..i actually thought i was pregnant..i was like OMG...what am i going to do..then I was like yippy..im a woman of course I would start getting happy..i was nausous all the time..headaches..cravings..breasts very sore..wanting to be more sexually active..feeling flutters in my tummy..swollen stomach..i walk 3 hours every night and I was gaining weight I was freaking out..so I went and got blod test..negative..anyways long story short..i got sent for ultrasound an transvaginal exam. sure enough i have fibroid tumours in my uterus and a cyst on my right ovary. So heres my question. I am getting ready to get it removed at end of the month..has anyone evre had it removed and end up that there tube was opened up enough to get pregnant again?? I am still up in the air about getting pregnant..if it happens ok and if it doesnt ok. Yes I have a bit of baby fever but i have pregnancy symptoms all the time so who wouldnt...it sucks having symptoms but knowing ur not actually pregnant..so can anyone tell me if they got pregnant after cyst removal when tubes were clamped?
