Hello, my name is Charity and I am 20 years old. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby since I went off the pill a month ago. I, of course, was very regular with my periods on the pill but when I'm off of it Im very irregular. My question is this... does anyone know if its more difficult to have a baby right after taking the pill and if I'm irregular how can I know when I'm ovulating? I would also like to know if anyone know how accurate the First response pregnancy tests really are, four days before the first day of your period, like it says it is or is it better for me to wait until Ive missed a period. Also, If I need to wait until Ive missed a period how can I know if I frequently miss periods anyway? Thank you for your help.

You'll save money if you wait until you have missed a period. It can take several months for your system to regulate after coming off the pill - or not. You sound like a good candidate for temperature charting to determine when and if you ovulate - fertilityfriend.com. There are signs of ovulation you can learn to look for, including feel and position, quality of vaginal mucus, increased libido, and perhaps ovulation cramps. Good luck!

I have irregular cycles too, I also hve 3 kids, so concieving is harder but not impossible. You will need to start writing your period dates down, once you get a round about idea of how long most of your cycles are you can start to pinpoint ovulation. Most women ovulate about day 14 of thier cycle but if your cycle is longer then 28 days you should add a day for everyday it passes 28 days to your ovulation date. So a 35 day cycle you would ovulate about day 21. Also you need to start checking your cervical mucus (cm), when you are fertile your cm will be like egg whites, slimy, clear and stretchy. Some women can feel ovulation, I get a cramping in one side, usually my left that last all day and then its gone. Like grandpa Viv said you could also try temping, fertility friend tells you how. Aslo ovulation prediction kits (opk's) will tell you if you will ovulate withing 12 to 36 hours. You pee on a stick and wait for it to turn positive. First Response gave me a positive at 12 days past ovulation with my daughter.
