To melissa, You shouldn't use vicodin while pregnant it is a pregnancy category C (category D if used for prolonged periods or high doses at term.) Regular use of opiates during pregnancy may produce withdrawl symptoms in the newborn (irritabilty, excessive crying, tremors, hyperactive reflexes, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, yawning, sneezing, seizures).

WHAT MEDS ARE OK TO TAKE TO CLEAR UP THE FLU

Lauren - August 19th, 2005 12:06 AM

I went to my regular family md today for the flu and they wouldnt give me any antibiotics because they said it wasnt bad enough... Yeah because they can tell how i feel... they would only give me something if i had strep throat or i was coughing up different colored phlem....

If your doctor prescribed you vicodin then it is okay to use it occasionally when your symptoms are so bad and tylenol does not help at all. It is true what Shannon said about the withdrawal symptoms, but that only happens after you take vicodin on a daily basis for at least two weeks, sometimes shorter for some individuals. You would have to take it daily and more than once a day to become physically addicted to where you would have withdrawal symptoms. Also if you took it like that close to delivery time it would affect the baby to where it could also have withdrawal if you do not stop taking it soon enough before the birth so it is completely out of yours and the baby's system. Just take it when you have to and do not take it consistently so the baby will not affected and you and the baby should be fine. Hope this helps. Good luck.

is it safe to take muscle relaxers while pregnant?

Jen - August 24th, 2005 1:36 AM

Adrian I don't think so. You should always talk to a doctor before taking anything.

mechelle - August 24th, 2005 2:20 AM

adrian, i'm in my second trimester and have been having severe headaches and my dr. subscribed me with lortab 10. he also mentioned that "since" i was in my second trimester then the lortab would be fine, but you should talk to ur dr first.
