My doctor won't write me a prescription because she just says to get over the counter support hose, but I heår those can be worse for you. I am getting vericose veins and my legs are in pain...has anyone else had compression stockings while pregnant?

support hose are support hose, whether you have a prescription or not. and to say that over the counter ones are 'worse' for you is so not true. I am on my feet for 10 or more hours 5 days a week and have worn over the counter support hose my whole pregnancy, and have yet to suffer from DVT or vericose veins.

My dr. prescribed me a support hose, but I understand that was a way to claim it on my medical insurance. I just went to the pharmacy and got an over the counter upper thigh high stocking. They measured me up first. I can't imagine that any tight compression stocking would be bad, but only good. I would guess that even the ones advised for travelling would be good. It sounds like you need some. I wasn't going to wear any, as they are a pain to get on and quite warm. My mum had really bad vv when pregnant with me and she has scared me into it as a precautionary measure.
Hope they make a difference.
