There should have been a chaperone (aka a nurse) in the office with her during the exam. If there wasn't, the exam was at the very least unethical.

I would definantly advise her to get a new doctor! If she does not feel comfortable around her doctor now, it will only get worse as time goes on ( imagine her having to deal with feeling uneasy around this guy for nine months! Not to mention that you will likely be less than happy with it as well. ) I have a female gynecologist now, but I was once examined by a man doctor at a clinic and had a similar experience. I will never go back to that clinic, and (sorry if it seems sexist) I will never have a man doctor examine me down there again unless it is an absolute emergency. Best of luck to the both of you!

i had to go to a gyno for an external cyst...only a very small one was present at the time...like the size of half a penut. he seems to be quite entertained as he examined it. i was horrified but had never been to a gyno before so i didnt know what to expect. there was no-one other than him in the room. lol i was so shitty.......my gp told me to go to see him when it got small so i did, and the gyno told me that it was too small and come back when it gets really big....OMG..needless to say i never went back. but thats about all the gyno said....didnt tell me what it was exactly and didnt really talk much about anything..nor did he look proffessional. atleast i know for next time :)

ok i know there are sick people out there but i really dont think it would be likely that the dr enjoyed himself in a sexual way. Gynecological exams are not at all sexual and i really think you wife should of spoken up if she was at all concerned by his professionalism & at the least she should get a new dr asap .

I have never had a nurse in with me for any exam (except for when i was under the age of 18) My dr is nice and smiles and talks alot during my exams. You posted some where else that your wife felt like he was enjoying himself because he was smiling, some doctors smile and talk you throught it to HELP you feel BETTER and more comfortable. thats how my DR is and hes never made me feel like he was doing anything he wasnt supposed to be doing. Maybe your wife is being a little oversensitative

She should request a female attendant at her next appointment.
