I just had a baby in February by a friend of mine i met back in april of last year. We were friends, and one thing led to another and we ended up pregant. Right before it happened, we were talking about kids and he told me he absolutely loved kids. So my question is why would a guy who absolutel y loves kids not want to be there for his own child? When i told him I was pregnant, he wanted me to get rid of it and when I didn't, he started saying the child wasn't his ( long before i even had him). Then to confuse me even more he went on askig about his baby and could he spend time whenever he wants and i told him yes he could and that I would never stop him from that. Next thing I know, his son arrives, and he is nowhere near trying to be there for him. Can somone please fill me in with your advice on what could possibly be going on with him. Why would a guy who loves kids and didn't have his own father there for him, do his own son like that?

SOMETIMES PREGNANCY MAKES A MAN DO STRANGE THINGS AND ACT OUT OF CHARACTER. BUT YOU HAVE TO KEEP ON GOING YOU CAN NOT LET THIS WEIGH YOUR ENERGY DOWN SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU MADE A CHOICE TO HAVE THIS BABY AND THE CHOICE WAS THE BEST ONE. YOU DID WHAT WAS BEST FOR YOU INSTEAD OF LIVING FOR SOMEONE ELSE DON'T STRESS YOURSELF WORRYING ABOUT HIS NEXT MOVE. IT'S PROBABLY A LOT FOR HIM TO HANDLE AND HE'S NOT READY TO FACE THE MUSIC AS WITH MANY YOUNG MEN, UNDERSTAND THAT. NOWS A PERFECT TIME TO SHOW YOUR STRENGTH AND CONTINUE TO BE A MOTHER TO YOUR SON AND GIVE HIM ALL OF YOUR ATTENTION. ALL ELSE WILL FALL INTO PLACE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, PREGNANCY/CHILD BIRTH IS A LIFE ALTERING EVENT. YOU WILL DO FINE AS YOU ARE NOW. DON'T LET THIS HOLD YOU BACK HE WILL REGRET THE TIME HE MISSED OUT OF HIS SON'S LIFE. XOXO

My experience with men has taught me to trust the actions not the words. They want to sound like good guys even if they don't want to DO the good guy thing.I think that is why sometimes the the two don't match. Good luck.

I don't think all men are the same but it sounds like this one is just very immature.
