Lately, it seems like the only way to get my 15 week old ds to take a nice long nap is to hold him. If I put him anywhere else for a nap, it only lasts for 30 minutes max before crying. He'll sleep for 2 hours in my arms. Has anyone else experienced his? Any advice, or do they just outgrow it eventually? I haven't tried CIO.

I have the same problem, except she is now 5 1/2 months :) good luck!

my ds is just over 7 months & he is the exact same way. If we hold him, he would nap for about 2 hours, if we put him in his crib, it's about 30 minutes...if we're lucky. he always seems happy, so he must just not need to sleep too much! :-)

Thanks for the replies. I guess it's good to know I'm not the only one out there!

I have the exact same problem except my dd is about 22 weeks! She's a great night sleeper but will only sleep for 20 minutes in her crib during the day as opposed to 2 hours in my arms! It's frustrating bc I can't get much done during the day!

I agree that it's frustrating! Sometimes it puts me in a bad mood to just sit there while ds is sleeping, thinking I could be doing a million other things. But I try to remember that someday I will look back and wish that I could still hold him, and I'm also thankful that I have the time to do it. I know it won't be the same for child #2! I'm thinking of trying to let him cry a bit once he's 4 months old, just to see if he can learn to soothe himself back to sleep. I suspect that I won't have much luck though.

I used to hold my ds for hours when he was that old too while he was sleeping! I may get bashed for this but I discovered that he'll nap much longer on his tummy. He's only a room away in his crib and I can see him from the kitchen or livingroom so I know he's fine. He's on his back at night always. Also he seemed to have a magic temperature that he had to be at before he'd sleep!
