6 Month Old With An Attitude?

I do not mean this to sound bad but I think most girls are like that, haha. I have a 7 month old son and he is so "go with the flow" in every situation. But I just started a job as a nanny for a family with a 4 month old baby girl and let me tell you, this little girl has quite the attitude problem. For instance, when my son wakes up from his nap, he plays in his crib until I get him. But this little girl will cry pretty liudly for about 30 seconds and then after that 30 seconds if she still isn't picked up she raises the pitch of the scream to a screach, then after 30 more seconds, she will be screaming bloody murder and the whole block will hear her. It makes me insane. I asked my mom about it and she said that girls are usually like that, at least me and my sister were. So I really am not trying to offend anyone by saying it's a gender thing, but in my opinion it just seems like girls are a little more moody than boys. |

Yup, it's completely normal at this age and it isn't a phase (being a Mom of a 7 month old and 23 month old I can say with experience that it only gets worse with age...lol!). It's only the beginning. Your dd is developing as a human, acquiring a more complex personality, and realizing that she can assert her own opinion on things. She is figuring out that she can behave a certain way and you will respond a certain way. This is the age when seperation & stranger anxiety starts to. Welcome to a new period of development in your baby's life. She is becoming aware of her "self" in the world. |

O and whens he sees me she not only cries but reaches for me too .. and whats odd is I honestly can say I dont think at any point that I 'spoiled' her .. like I dont carry her constantly or anything so why she acts like that now is beyond me ... but she always had a bit of a temper if you do soemthing she doesnt like she really fights you on it .. so i guess now it is shifting to what she Wants ..like mommy to hold her haha I hate letting her cry but I can't please her all the time so I will do what I was doing like putting her clothes away or something then pick her up but this way she doesn't see I jump when she cries ..especially since its more yelling she does then crying lol .. hey good luck :) |

Thanks girls! Yeah, I can totally see a girl being like this. She does just seem more aware of herself and she TOTALLY knows how to get mommy's attention. I can't let her cry either but I do try to finish what I am doing when she starts trying to get me. She makes this coughing noise kind of thing when she wants my attention too and when I look she smiles and stops it, then when I look away to do whatever I was doing she does it louder! I'm having sleep problems with her too now. She's never been a cosleeping baby, but now she wakes all the time to nurse at night only because she knows she will get to lay in bed with us and then she falls asleep and so do i so she ends up spending half the night in our bed. As soon as she falls asleep and I notice or wake up I put her back in her bed and she often wakes to start crying again. She never did any of this when she was younger... |

haha, at 6 months, it is just the beginning!! i think that's when my dd started getting a little attitude. Just wait until she is crawling and walking. For awhile i couldn't even get her to stay down for a diaper change. |

I know this is an old post but I had a bit of a giggle when I read it - this is my daughter all over!!! She is just on 9 months and I have a horrid suspicion she is gonna be one of those kids that throw themselves on the floor in the supermarket and goes mental haha. She has already started it! Like if I dont feed her fast enough or try to wipe her face - she goes red in the face and makes this wierd screeching noise! Also we are starting "no" with her when she touches things she shouldnt and just recently if i say no she stops and doesnt touch but cracks a wobbly haha. I just try to ignore her but she can really lay it on! And stefkay she does that exact same thing with the coughing!!! Also all my friends have boys and they are all soooo much calmer!! :) But wouldnt swap her for anything - and I am sure we have more tantys to come! haha |

lol...this is funny! bellybubble my dd is now going on 11 mos soon and although it did get better for a while now she's really "expressing herself" a lot more, ha ha. I don't know what is normal and what is not as she is my first so I'm constantly worrying that she's going to be "difficult". Her dad seems to think so and I'm like "noooooooo!" She gets mad now and smacks him in the face. We are just now starting to have to worry about the no-no's, redirecting, etc. Whew! I do hope this is not foretelling of things to come and is just normal behavior at this age. I thought that stuff didn't start till 18 mos to 2 years though? |

this is too funny, my dd is doing the same sort of things you described, at 5 1/2 months and I really started noticing it about 2 weeks ago. She has definatly started letting me know what she wants! And is immediate I'm her disatisfaction! Sometimes ( usually evenings when I am tired).I'm just like ---please calm down!!!!! Ok!!!!! I get you!!!!!! A drama queen! Other than that, she is pretty laid back and mostly really happy. |
