Is this normal? OMG it drives me nuts to hear her just grinding away! It is worse then a chalkboard for me. What can I do to get her to stop? Thanks ladies!

I don't know if it's normal or not, but my little man did it for awhile when his top 4 teeth came in (he already had his bottom 2 in the centre). He's 8 1/2 mths old now, and has 8 teeth. Once the other 2 came in on the bottom (beside the 2 centre teeth), he stopped the grinding...he had all 8 teeth before 7 mths (when he started crawling) and I think he did it because it was something new to try....since he couldn't yet get around, he made noise with his teeth;)

Yeah I don't know why they do it but my 10 month old has been doing it for a couple of months now. It drives me absolutely NUTS. I hope our girls cut this out! She is getting her other two bottom teeth right now so hopefully once they come in more she'll stop.

my dd did the same thing when her 4 top teeth were coming in. it drove me crazy, but i just ignored it. didn't call any attention to it when she did it and eventually she just stopped doing it. once her new teeth weren't the new thing, she just forgot about it. stick it out, she will get over it!!

my dd did the same thing, i don't think there is much you can do. i guess you can tell them to stop. She got over it pretty quickly, although now and then once in awhile i still hear her doing it.

Thanks ladies. It is really just nerve racking to hear that. I did notice yesterday that it looks like 2 more tops are coming in so hopefully she will stop after those break through. Nothing like laying in bed hearing a lovely grinding noise!

Maybe it provides some sort of relief when teething. i think my dd is teething now to because she is having real bad days lately and i can kind of see a couple in the back coming in ( when i force her to let me look, she never wants me to!)and she was grinding them today. She's usually a pretty good baby other then her going through her real early terrible 2 temper tantrums lately!
