hi -- anyone else out there with a 9 mth old who doesn't crawl or pull up? MY DS does do some form of army crawling to get to from point A to B. Basically he rolls all over the place. He isn't really interested in standing -- unless he's in his jumperoo! He isn't able to yet get from a laying down position to sitting position. Would feel better knowing I;m not the only one! Thanx.

Hi!! Same here! My ds is over 9 months and still no crawling or pulling up. He loves to stand, when you pull him up, but refuses to spend any time on his tummy! He just rolls around. We have all tile in our house, so I'm blaming it on that LOL!! We just had an appt. and the doc said not to worry. He is doing great in everything else, like feeding himself and drinking through a straw, but he still doesn't have any teeth either! Keep me posted if you find anything to motivate your lo to do either!

I have a 10 month old preemie and she rolled and army crawled for over 8 weeks. I have a hard floor and she would slide when she would try and crawl. i bought her a playmat about a month ago and she mastered crawling on there and now she is fast as heck on the hardwood. She is trying to pull up on things for the past 3 weeks and has pulled up a handful of times. Some babies never crawl just go straight to walking. If he is rolling and army crawling he is trying and probably getting to where he wants to go...it will happen before you know it. Get ready though for when they do...they can get into stuff before you know it. haha.

My daughter is 7 months and doing both, but I am talking for my niece...she is 10 months and one day she just started crawling and standing and didn't stop. My other niece is 6 days older then my daughter and she is about 2 months behind her. So she just really rolls, pushes herself back a bit...but in everything like rolling and stuff she is pretty much 2 months behind my daughter. So there is alot of babies out there who don't want too do anything. My brother didn't do much of anything til he was 1 (so my mom says I'm the youngest so I never saw it) she said he did it all on his own time...he is still the same way today. But there is nothing wrong with him wanting to wait it out. Sometimes I wish my daughter wasn't everywhere lol

My daughter is 9 months old and we are all so frustrated because she isn't crawling and just plain refuses to!! As soon as we sit her down, she falls onto her tummy and starts crying/screaming/whining until we sit her back up. We have tried leaving her on her tummy in hopes that she will learn to crawl but nothing!! We are all so frustrated! She can't get from laying down to sitting position either but we are more frustrated with the crawling issue!

I am relieved to read this post bc I too have what I call a "lazy" baby...lol Ds is 8 months and 1 week today and he is yet to attempt to crawl or even stand. During tummy time he looks like he is swimming furiously underwater and kicking his legs like crazy (which is adorable) but when I hold him up with his feet on the floor he makes no attempt to bear enough weight to stand! He can sit up fine when we are holding him or if he is in his Bumbo seat, but as soon as I let go he holds himself up for a moment and then plops back down! Agg. He is great with his hands though. He is pincer grasping, transferring objects, reaching, etc. and he is constantly babbling and singing so I have no worries there, but my goodness....when it comes to locomotion it's just not happening yet. He is also a pretty big boy...he is 23lbs!! So I imagine it takes quite a bit to hold all that girth up. Another thing I heard the other day from one of my fellow nurses was that boys have a tendancy to take a little longer than girls when it comes to movement. I don't know if there is any truth behind that or not, but it made me feel a little better :-)

My ds started sitting at 6 months, sitting up from a laying position at 7 months. He started crawling (and I mean proper crawling...like exploring & getting from place to place with a purpose) at 9.5 months old. He started "practicing" crawling from 8.5 months. He started pulling up to standing at 10.5 months and then cruising furniture at 11.5-12 months. Every baby is different and it doesn't mean there is something "wrong" with them if they don't start hitting their milestones at a precise age. If there are possible issues your doc will bring them up. Just give your lo's as much tummy time as possible and enough opportunities to practice these skills.

hey girls - my oldest son never crawled, never pulled up, never had an interest in even standing. He would sit on his bum and scoot around or roll across the room, that's it. We were so worried, we took him to every pediatrician and orthedpedic surgeon in our town. Everyone said he was fine. He started walking finally at 18 months and our dr said that was still in the normal range. It's hard not to worry when everyone else's kid is doing things your baby is not, but really, don't sweat it, just enjoy your little one just as they are!

My friends daughter is 10.5 months and doesn't crawl yet either. She was a 6 week preemie. My other friends son, barely crawled until 11 months, then suddenly a month later 1 day before his 1 yr b'day he started walking. I never crawled and went straight to walking. Alot of books and Dr's will tell u not to worry b/c many babies don't crawl well, or at all since parents started putting them to sleep on their backs to prevent SIDS. It's not even counted as one of the big MILESTONES to watch for anymore. Enjoy the tranquility of having a non mobile baby haha. My son is out of control and we can barely keep up..it's exhausting :-))
