I am starting to introduce solids so far we have had oatmeal (ds is allergic to rice ) sweet potatoes and carrots since we had the carrots ds has not pooped and is so uncomfortable. We tried some prunes today any suggestions? Is this normal?

A handout the doctors office gave me said that any fruit that has a p in it is really good for constipation, so you can also try pears, peaches, apples, etc. You may want to try some juice, like the pear or the apple, and also you can try some water.

I too was going to suggest prune juice. My daughter had a terrible time with consipation at about 2 months, my doc had me try the just water, brown sugar in water, pear juice, etc. Then finally he said, hey lets try the prune juice. It was amazing for her! She gets the prune juice (2oz with 2oz of water) every other day and she has never had a problem with it again. I hope you find what works, I know how much I hated seeing her uncomfortable!!

Every time my ds is constipated I always give him the "p" fruits or fruits that start with letter p (pear, peach, prune, plum, etc) also I give him more water and try to avoid giving him rice, banana and apple until he does his business. I hope this will work, I hate seeing my baby uncomfortable too.

fruit! my son was constipated (the ONLY thing we did differently was oatmeal!)
what helped us was giving him 2 oz of apple juice and some pears! that is if your pediatrician gave the go for fruit juice. good luck unstopping the little guy!
