Try eating foods with high protine in. Green veg help too. Also prunes (yuk!!) I was never constipated just after giving birth, but I was petrified to go! |

Yes it is totally normal. Continue to take your stool softener and if your breastfeeding you need to drink more water. Well, really you should drink more water either way. |

hi...don't worry your not alone we have all had the same thing happen 12wks seems like a long time though keep taking the stool softener and also try adding more fiber to your diet you can buy the fiber stuff to mix in water or you can make up something like collard greens not sure where you are from I am from the south so I made me up a big ol mess of callards and that cleaned me right out if it continues though you may want to talk to your doctor. |

Oh my gosh, yes I had the same problem and a FUNNY story to go along with it. I sent my dh to the drugstore to get dulcolax for me however I didn't realize it was a laxative ( I know total dingbat). I thought it was stool softner and took two. Oh boy, you can only imagine the result!!! I can laugh now but I have never pooped so much in all my life and the stomach cramps were awful. Cleared up the constipationg though. :) |

oh yes, I never had constipation as well except for pregnancy time. Drinking more water, eating more fiber helps. Stool softeners didn't help me much either although I kept taking them till I had a bowel movement. I had my fridge stacked with lots of pulp orange juice, high fiber bread, lots of green veggies and what not! I also suspected my prenatal vitamins were causing it (I had changed pharmacies towards late pregnancy and got different kind. Since then I've changed back to original pharmacy and seem to be going ok now. Not to scare you but to make matters worse I seemed to have bleeding(possibly hemmorroids). preparation-h is what my ob-gyn recommended and it did help although it made me feel like a REALLY old person trying to buy that at the pharmacy counter. ahhh the joys of pregnancy/child birth! Wish you good luck! |

I had the same problem after delivery, but not for that long. I'd suggest, in addition to lots of water, lots of fresh fruits: mangoes, ripe red papaya (makes MIRACLES), kiwi, pears, strawberries. Stay away from apples and bananas. |
