Hi! GRIM started on tiny amounts rice cereal mixed with formula on a spoon at about 2 months (with a doctor's okay) and had pears at 3 months. She's now 5.5 months old and a big fan of carrots and butternut squash, pears and peaches. I'd really like to start her on green veggies, but I don't know when! I bought her some green beans and sweet peas (1st stage Beech Nut) tonight and DH reminded me that we'd heard somewhere not to give them green vegetables until six months or older. She just tried out sweet potatoes for the first time and WOW have we got a winner there.

She's also been teething since she was about three months. She suddenly got very screamy, wouldn't eat, wouldn't sleep, etc. The doctor at the time confirmed she'd started the teething process, but I'm wondering when I should be watching for the white nubs and approximately when they might break through. For now, we're doing Tylenol as needed (for baby and parents all.. heehee) and chewy toys/cloths. I have a 13 year old son, so it's been a while since I last had to remember all this stuff! LOL

Hi One Grim Mama. When I started dd on solid foods at 6 months my doctor gave me a paper telling me when to start what foods. It says that there's not really a certain age that you're supposed to start green foods, just that you should start yellow/orange foods first. I think the timeline is based on when they started, not how old they are. You know what I mean? Sorry I can't help with teething, my dd is 8.5 months and still has no sign of teeth!

DS is 8 1/2 mths old and had 8 teeth since he was 7 mths old (now we're just waiting for the dreaded molars to appear!) I don't know about your LO, but with DS, he drools and has the hiccups a lot for a few weeks before any teeth appear, and it's only AFTER I can see the little white tops that he gets fussy. I think it's different for each babe, but for DS, it's usually a few weeks after the teething 'signs' start that one actually pokes through (or 4 all at the same time!) Good luck!

She had a.. I think the doctor called it.. gum softening.. at three months. Apparently. lol That's what the pain and screeching was all about. We can see white, but it doesn't feel any different for me, so I'm wondering if we're just seeing what we want to see. She's been a little droolmonster since 3 months, but lately she's soaking bibs and it's almost pouring out of her, so maybe that's the sign!

for the pain, try HYLAND'S TEETHING TABLETS. they work wonders for us. they're all-natural with no side-effects. our twin boys have been teething for the past month (they're almost 4 months) we saw the tiniest hint of a tooth poking through one day on our oldest, but it's gone back under again. no sign of tooth-bud on youngest at all, just white gums and drooling/fussiness. i have no idea how long it takes to cut a tooth. i thought we'd see one poke through by now. the ped told us a tooth can poke through and then recede back under several times before finally cutting for good.

She's now 7.5 months and the first tooth has been through for GOOD for a while now. Second seems to be coming right in line, as she's back to her old "no food, all fuss" routine.
Funnygal: I think those are what Grandma bought for her recently! I love Hyland's products, so I was glad to see it. Oh, man.. I don't even like to think about how much it must bother them to have their teeth poke out and then recede and poke out again several times.. it seems like it hurts enough the once! lol
