HI ALL. I HAVE A 10 MONTH OLD AND I HAVE BEEN GRADUALLY INTRODUCING FOODS TO HIM FOR ONLY A FEW MONTHS. HE WAS DOING WELL WITH THE BREAST SO I STARTED LATE. I GUESS MY QUESTION IS HOW DO I FEED HIM MORE TABLE FOODS AND CUT DOWN ON THE BREAST. I DON'T WANT TO OVER FEED HIM BUT HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH TO GIVE HIM. I WANT TO WEEN HIM GRADUALLY AND HE IS ALREADY USING A SIPPY CUP FOR WATER INSTEAD OF A BOTTLE SO I'D LIKE TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. ON A TOTAL SEPERATE TOPIC HE USED TO SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT REALLY WELL IN HIS CRIB. THEN WE WENT AWAY FOR A WEEK OVER CHRISTMAS AND IT TOTALLY SCREWED HIM UP. WE THEN LEFT FOR FLORIDA FOR 3 MONTHS AND HE STAYED SCREWED UP. WE ARE HOME NOW AND HE IS HAVING A REALLY HARD TIME GETTING USED TO HIS CRIB AGAIN AS WELL AS TEETHING. I WAS WONDERING IF FEEDING HIM MORE WOULD HELP BUT AGAIN I DON'T WANT TO OVER FEED HIM. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I'M NOT SURE I HAVE IT IN ME TO TRY THE CIO METHOD YET. PLEAS HELP!!

Mama, i wouldn't worry to much about over feeding your lo. By 10 months, babies are pretty good at knowing when they are full. Look for signs, turning of the face, becoming very distracting with other things(we all know they are always distracted with something lol) spitting up alot after a feeding, then you would know to make the portion smaller. I haven't had to wean yet, but maybe start cutting out a feeding during the day(where is wouldn't be a comfort feeding), and replace with just a full meal, and slowing start cutting out one feeding at a time. As far as at night, my dd is 6 months old, and i feed her a bottle and then some vegetables before she goes to bed, that way she is good and full for the whole night, and doesn't wake up hungry. I hope some of these helps. good luck!

Thank you HollyMay. I guess I should have mentioned that he eats a veggie and fruit in the evening already. I can't get him to like meat at all. He just gags and gags. He also eats some bits of toast with me for breakfast after breast feeding and through the day he has the breast when he wakes from his naps. At lunch while I am eating I sometimes give him some fruit in a teething soother if he still seems hungry. It is a great way to introduce him to foods I am eating. He does turn his head when he's done which is great but he seems to want the breast a bit more with all the changes as well as more and more table food because he's curious. I will try to cut down on one of his breast feeds and see what happens. Thanks for your input.
