Posted this on toddler care as well...
My son isn't the greatest sleeper, sleeps from about 9pm to 7am. Which i know some would consider lucky, and because what we used to deal with, i'm satisfied. Anyway, he's generally a happy baby, always playing, dancing, etc. First nap is 9-11 am, wakes up just as happy and content and ready for lunch! After lunch, he takes second nap from 1-2. He's pediatrician says thats the latest he should be taking a nap, and should then stay up until bed time. The thing is, once waking up from second nap, he's SO cranky from then on until he goes to bed at 9. He'll play and distract himself for ten minutes at a time at the latest, and then is just fussing and easy to start screaming. Is there anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on what to do?? Thanks so much.

Hey supamama I have a little girl who is similar - she is only 7 months. She was much worse sleeper at night then your son though - up at all hours and very grumpy during day - which is due to all the lost sleep she was getting. Well my friend just lent me a book SAVE OUR SLEEP - Tizzie Hall - it has routines for different ages etc etc and it is FANTASTIC - I have only just begun using it for the last week and already seen results!! This lady recommends putting your bub down no later then 7pm and getting them up at 7am (and 2 naps during day like you are doing) - maybe try putting your bub down earlier then 9 - the extra sleep at night might get him through from his last nap to bed time - I don't know if that is any help or if you have already tried this but its worth a try if you haven't!! Good luck!

Hi supmama, I might be of some help in this area. My nephew had the same problem. Something about that second nap just ruined his day! My sister decided to try to keep him up and just not have a second nap at all. It took a few days for the routine to set in, but eventually he got used to it and is doing very well with just one nap time. My nephew started sleeping 3-3.5 hours in one nap time instead of 4 hours with two. It helped her so hopefully it'll help you!
