How's everyone doing?

fefer1 - March 2nd, 2009 6:37 PM

Geez - once they go they go! Levi is all over the place and proud of it! So cute! He is trouble though - before crawling he had already broken a glass lamp by yanking the cord and pulling it off a table - and the other day he pulled our DVD player down and pulled out the HDMI cable and managed to separate the connector on the end! I have NO idea how he did it or even how he did it so fast! Just when you think you have house proofed...I heard on the radio about a 6 year old who pulled a TV on top of herself and died - and realized we had a little TV in Levis room on a stand - for lack of space elsewhere. I removed that thing right away. Never even thought about it.

omg that is nuts fefer - I can see that happening though violet tugs on the cords hanging out of the front of one my tvs chas uses for her playstation - but when she is on the ground playing I am playing next to her otherwise she is contained in her high chair or play yard so soon as I see her reaching for it I snatch her up haha - she is really making big steps too lately she pulls herself up on the dogs crate and giggles at him - she leans in and gives me 'kisses' which is her licking my mouth ..that we need to change somehow haha i dont want her licking anyone else lol - then I say to her 'wheres your doggie?' and she crawls over or looks at cash lol I guess if you say something enough it sinks in haha she is also getting in her lil habits now with wanting me to rock her to sleep or to let her sleep with me - which I am guilty of letting her do lol ... SO do you girls still use the swing? I sold hers and now I regret it so I was thinking of buying one of those like small swings boppy has one its like a take along swing - says up to 25 lbs and I think she is just 17 so it will be a lil while before she is 25 lbs .. i just figure something for her to watch some cartoons in or something. Gabby I had to drive all the way to doylestown in that damn storm for work .. i couldnt even see at some points the road was completely white the farms on the right and left were white the truck in front of me was plowing and making a HUGE snow cloud in front of me .. I couldnt see AT all i was wondering if i was in he right lane .. scary .. i really do not like driving in that damn snow I hope its done for the year.

we are trying to sell our swing - Levi is way too big for it. Not sure what the weight limit is but he will lean forward in it and it stops because he's so heavy. I'm afraid it will tip over.

Snow - I love it but our city shuts down if we get 3 flakes. :) We have so many hills that things get icy and everyone is too stupid to stay home when they don't know how to drive in it and cause accidents.

It's so hard to keep Levi contained at all times - rachel will run to the "potty" at the worst times and I have to run back and forth between her and him. :) Sometimes I sit him in the hall outside the bathroom but now he tries to crawl IN the bathroom. Ick. :) Or I'm afraid he'll fall and bonk his head on our hard wood floors. He' s climbing up on everything too - just hasn't quite pulled up all the way. Soon enough, soon enough. He tries too though. He'll be on the floor, and get on all fours and push up all the way where his knees are off the floor and his butt is straight up in the air. Ahhh..they are so cute at this age- I don't want him to grow up!!! I'm going to miss this one day. Rachel has already gotten so big! I think she's grown over night!!
So this Saturday I have an all day staff retreat with the people I volunteer with - so I'm going to attempt to leave Levi with my sister. He still isn't taking a bottle but I figure he might get hungry enough to do it. :) I figure, she can mix his milk in with his cereal or food so it's not like he won't get fed - or get his fluids. I think this will be a nice treat for me to be baby free for 8 hours. :) My sister might be worn out by the end of the day but I won't be. haha

Hi girls. Ellie is taking two steps at a time now but still not walking. She's got the one foot in front of the other thing down, it's the standing thing she needs to work on :) I don't worry about her getting into stuff that much. When she turned 6 months old I decided to turn our game room (where we keep the pool table, air hockey table, ping pong table, and a lot of other tables lol) into a play room. We moved all the stuff that was in it to the cabana outside. My dad used to live in it so it's been pretty empty since he moved out. Anyway there's really nothing she can hurt herself on in that room. We just put in new carpet so it's nice and thick, and safety proofed it where necessary. It's a huge room so she never gets bored in there, and it's nice to have a place for all her toys. She loves to look out windows and that room has the most windows of anywhere in the house. They look out into our back yard so she can look at our dogs, the turtles popping their heads out of the fish pond, the birds... every once in a while we get ducks in our pool, one time even a pelican trying to eat our fish haha. Anyway yeah I don't think she's ever hurt herself or gotten into anything in that room before. I'm often in there with her but I'm usually doing my homework or on the computer. The only danger is when she's playing with my aggressive nephew :P

Hi ladies! fefer: You probably don't want to hear this but I envy you your potty progress. Caden still refuses to sit on the potty. I am at a loss on what step I can take next. I was hoping to have him potty trained before I went back to work in June. I may have to go cold turkey and put him straight in traning pants and deal with messy cleanups. Congrats on Levi crawling now...and luckily Jaxon hasn't become too mischievous yet. He does get into his brother's things though and has already had a couple of "boo-boo's". He tries to pull up on things with one hand. He's getting ahead of himself.

amanda: Jaxon tries to walk to, but he doesn't have the balance yet. He stands and takes one step and then falls down. Did you ever get that job you interviewed for? You're lucky to have a play room. I wish I had that kind of room...I am busting at the seams with all the toys in our place.

That place we went and looked at was nice but the exterior looked a little shabby and they don't have enough parking. There is so much on the market right now that we will just keep looking. Dh also insists that the market will drop even lower before it stabilizes so we should wait a few more months. I am worried that we will miss our window of opportunity. Surprisingly the townhouses in our complex haven't been taking that long to sell. A few months at the most, so I am not too worried about the selling part.

Still no period. Dh asks me every day whether I have gotten it or not. It's worrying given our track record. I want to test again just to be double sure, but hate spending that $10 on a test.

Sprinkles: I sold our swing about 2 months ago. Jaxon didn't want to sit in it anymore. He cried within mins of being put into it. He is happy just to crawl around and sit on the floor.

Oh, and could someone give me the password to add pics to the Photobucket account, or could I email someone the pics to put them on for me. Thanks!

fefer1 - March 3rd, 2009 2:42 PM

fefer1 - March 3rd, 2009 2:45 PM

never mind, I found your email and sent you the PW

Sprinkles - March 3rd, 2009 4:21 PM

Hmm so it may be a waste .. she is maaaybe 18 lbs and the limit on the take along swings is 25lbs so that part is ok i just wonder how she will like it.. hmm maybe i can find a cheap 2nd hand one in case she doesnt like it.

amanda17 - March 3rd, 2009 4:25 PM

Thank you for asking DDT, yes I did get the job. I've been working for about two weeks now and I love it. Everyone is so nice!

Sprinkles - March 3rd, 2009 5:50 PM

Congratulations amanda!

fefer1 - March 3rd, 2009 11:28 PM

DDT - you can try the dollar store for a test - I was told they sell them there.
Don't envy the potty training either. I can't seem to get her to STOP wetting her pants. ugh! She poops in the toilet almost all the time and has great fun doing it. :) It's the pee that is a problem. I still have to remind her constantly to go potty!!! ugh!!! I put her in her underwear and it does no good. Then she gets tired of pee in her pants and wants to put on her pullups -then wants a new pair every time she goes to the potty even though the ones she has are not wet yet. Or, she pees in them just a little and won't put them back on - so I waste a TON of pullups. They are expensive. She's hilarious though when she does go on the potty. After she's done, she stands up, turns around to face the toilet and puts her hands on the seat and bends over so I can "wipe"her. haha...it's kind of funny. Anyways, I'm sick of potty training. blah...
Do you have a little potty for him? Or are you putting him on the big toilet? I gave Rachel a little portable potty to carry around and play with for a couple of months to get her used to the idea of what it was for and she thought it was fun. We never actually used it though -she wanted to be on the real potty. She also got rid of her potty seat too. She wants to be right on the toilet. :)

amanda17 - March 4th, 2009 2:23 AM

Thanks Dawn :)
Ughh don't even talk about potty training my grandma is driving me crazy about it. She either doesn't remember what age her kids were when they were potty trained or they started creepily early. She's trying to pressure me into potty training her now.... at 9 months!! Just like she wanted me to start solid foods when she was 4 weeks old! I try to nicely tell her that there are new studies that strongly advice against these things, but nooo her way is the best way. Eh, she has good intentions so I'm probably overly frustrated with her.
Anyway I hope Ellie gains a bit more weight this month. She seems a little bigger but she's still in 6 month onesies and 3 month pants. Her pants are too short but perfect around her belly so I can't find pants that fit properly. I tried 6 month pants and with a little bit of wiggling she had them off in seconds.
Anyway I'm already getting ready for summer. I've ordered a few things from a baby magazine, like a baby float, a little bathing suit and all that good stuff. She's been interested in the pool for a while and I've been eager to take her in. I also ordered a closet organizer because she needs it and I'm a psycho cleaning woman, and a bigger bath tub. I've been looking for breathable bumpers that go all the way to the top railing of the crib, but I've only been able to find them online and I want to take a look at them first.

DDT - March 4th, 2009 10:28 AM

Urgh!! I feel like I have a newborn again. Jaxon was waking up every 1-1.5 hrs last night....from 7pm till about 5:30am when I just gave up and came into the living room. I have a bad headache and am in a foul mood. It's a combination of him wanting to continously pull himself up in his crib. He is obbessed and only took a 1.5hr yesterday because of it. He also had a rattling chest/cough last night but mysteriously ever since I've gotten up with him it's gone. And then finally I feel the bumps of two teeth on his lower gum. He has been drooling extra the last couple of days. Let's hope today and tonight go better. I am not a very pleasant person on a lack of sleep. I quote my dh, "You lose your mind." I become really grouchy and sensitive to everything. And that is why dh feels like he is going through hell during the first 8 weeks pp.

fefer: We use both potty chair and toliet. But he prefers the toliet. He won't sit on either though, so dh has been showing him how to pee standing. He loves the idea and stands naked, holding his pee-pee and grunting to get some pee out. He has peed once in the big toliet. But still no sitting to attempt the no. 2.

amanda: I found my breathable mesh bumper at Sears. Try them out. I love it! especially with keeping soothers in the crib. Surprisingly there is a lot of books and info on early potty training. I was considering it with Caden but got lazy. Essentially it's about timing and getting them used to the potty chair (*sigh* do I wish I had done that now!). You can start early potty training as soon as they are able to sit independently but I have read that 9 months is the best age to start. It's because they are at a stage where they want to please you still...as they get older their will and independency becomes stronger. Hey! I might even consider doing it with Jaxon this time around. It wouldnt hurt...hmmm I'll have to think about it. Congrats on getting that job...that's great news.

Okay, I am a complete dummy and have no clue how to sign into our group photobucket page. I log in and then what do I do?

amanda17 - March 4th, 2009 12:04 PM

I decided to order the breathable bumper over the internet last night. If it comes back they have a complete money back return policy. So I figure there's not much to lose. Ellie is always getting her feet stuck between the bars so I've been wanting one for a while.

My mom said that my grandma also persuaded her to potty train at 9 months so she tried it with my older sister and said she had a lot of problems with it. She didn't specify what the problems were, she just said I shouldn't do it. I dunno, I've never potty trained anyone before haha

fefer1 - March 4th, 2009 3:28 PM

The early potty training - no way for me. Not gonna do it. You basically prolong the potty training stage for a LONG time!! Until they are about 2 1/2 they can't even GET on the potty by themselves so you have to help them every step of the way. It's WAY too much work, I have a hard enough time with it now. :) No offense to anyone who wants to do it though. I just don't see the point and don't want to drag it out any longer. haha..it's a pain in the booty. BUT...getting them used to the idea early is helpful, I think. I really only have one child to go by from experience and every kid is different. I know I was potty trained at 2 - but my siblings took MUCH longer. My sister still wet the bed in the 5th grade! Yikes. I hope that's not the case with my kids.
With the pooping - once they do it it's cool. ;) Rachel thought it was funny when it splashed her and once I told her that poopy was her food that she had eaten she was really fascinated. haha..gross I know. BUT - she will poop 3 or 4 times a day just because it's cool. Oh, and I started giving her marshmallows when we started so she had incentive. Little ones for pee, and big ones for poop. :) We are done with that for the most part but every now and then she asks for one. DDT -I'll have to get tips from you on boy training later. :)

Sorry about the sleep deprivation too DDT - I'm the same way. I'm a total psycho with no sleep. Everyone watch out!!! I'm lucky, Levi has been sleeping like an angel lately. He even took a 2 hour morning nap which he hasn't done in ages. Must be tired from his new crawling skill. He's trying to stand up too, kind of weird.

He's not too cool with the mesh food basket. He gets mad at it because he can't get the food out like he wants. :) Grapes he hated, apples were a little better.
