Hi everyone. I thought I'd start a new thread since it's not January anymore :) Can you believe our kids are 8 months old already?!

amanda17 - February 3rd, 2009 7:18 PM

Fefer- I think Ellie might be walking this month. Earlier today she stood up without any help. I think she may have taken a step if she hadn't of got distracted by our cat and leaped at him haha. I'm going to start physically and mentally preparing myself (and the house) for her running all over the place :)

fefer1 - February 4th, 2009 12:21 AM

wow - that's pretty amazing. :) Good luck on baby proofing - now you're going to constantly be following her around.

Levi is still not crawling exactly but he leans forward and reaches for everything and is TRYING to. He kind of lunges forward and gets on ONE knee - the other is stuck underneath him. He is standing though and trying to pull himself up on everything. If sit him in front of me and hold my hands up he'll grab them and pull himself up. It's pretty cool - he's trying so hard!! :) He loves to stand and "walk" with me. I'm not ready for the "mobility" at all - it's so much more work!! I can hardly keep up with Rachel and the dog. :)

fefer1 - February 4th, 2009 12:30 AM

oh Gabby - hope the sickness is better for you. I was so freaking sick I never want to go through that again - the meds helped but not a lot. Hope you don't need them this time. :)

Hi everyone. I was in the june mommies until Hannah came 6 weeks early in may. I have been so busy since with work, the 4 boys and her that I haven't really kept track of anyone. But anyway, Hannah too is starting to try and crawl. She seems to move around pretty good though. She rolls over and turns and in 2 seconds it seems that she will go from one side of the room to the other !! I am so not looking forward to walking !

Sprinkles - February 4th, 2009 2:15 PM

Hi Michelly , violet came early too she was born May 27th ..I still consider myself a june mommy though haha - Yeah violet is really good at crawling she goes and you have to really watch her or she will crawl right off the couch or bed etc especially when I try and change her diaper she flips over and makes a dash for it I grab her ankle and pull her back lol I have to give her a toy to distract her. My cold is getting better I still have one clogged ear so hopefully it drains or something soon lol I hear it like popping but nothing 'drains' out of it maybe it stays inside .. i dont know.. Violet had her WIC appointment today and she weighs 17 lbs and is 26 inches long. Ok well Im going to figure out my check book and relax while she naps. ttyl

DDT - February 4th, 2009 3:05 PM

Hi ladies! Jaxon also came a little early. He was born on the 31st May. No crawling here yet. He rocks back and forth every chance he gets though. He also likes walking. I hold his hands and he walks around the room. He has been trying to pull up on things lately. He can get from laying to sitting to. He has been sick with diarrhea & a runny nose the past week. He is starting to get a bit better. I am getting ready for a wedding we are going to in 1.5 weeks. The boys are staying with my parents so it will be a nice get-away. The wedding is in Puyallup (sp?) down in WA. Then the weekend after that is Caden's 2nd birthday. We are looking to possibly buy a bigger place. I am starting to feel cramped in our 2-bed place and would love a 3-bed. We will probably go to the bank for a talk sometime this month. Sprinkles: Violet is so little! or do I just have a monster on my hands. Jaxon is 21.5lbs and 30.5in long. He fits into some 18 month clothing already. While ds1 is a skinny-minny on the other hand. He weighs 24lbs. amanda: Have fun baby-proofing! I can't imagine Jaxon walking now...I want him to stay a baby for a while longer. It feels like the 2nd time around the months just fly by and I don't get to relish his infancy as much as I did with Caden. Jaxon hasn't been eating much solids because of his sickness. This morning he finally ate an entire meal...he doesn't seem to have a big appetite as it is. He can really only eat about 2-3tbsp at a time. He is on 3 bottles a day though (8oz) each. He really likes finger foods. This morning I gave him some half-frozen raspberries. He liked it but was a sticky red mess at the end of it.

fefer1 - February 4th, 2009 5:25 PM

I don't know how much is normal at this age but Levi ate a 6oz jar of oatmeal/apple/banana mix for breakfast AFTER being BF, had a boob again at 8:30 and 10:30 then ate about 2TBSP of oatmeal with half a banana and 3 ounces of BM mixed in. He'll be awake from his nap soon and want to BF again. He seems to eat 6 ounces of "food" 3 times a day on top of having his boob. He's acting like he's starving all of a sudden too. Yesterday and today it seems like he's always hungry!!!
He also has this rash behind his knees that won't go away so I called the Dr and they told me to put hydrocortisone cream on it twice a day for a couple of days. They asked if anyone in my family has excema (sp). Nope. Anyways, it doesn't seem to bother him at all.
So this morning he was taking a nap, maybe asleep 30-40 minutes, and Rachel had "disappeared". I went to check on her as I thought I heard her go in her room and shut her door. Well, it took her NO time at all to go in Levi's room and climb into his crib with him. She was sitting in there playing with his mobile and he was just giggling away. I was so mad yet laughing at the same time. :) She woke him up and I was JUST about to get in the shower. grrr!!!
DDT - Puyallup is 20-30 minute away from me. :) And the second time DOES go faster - I keep telling Levi to stop growing - I want my baby to last a while longer. sigh..maybe it's because he's our last one too.

fefer1 - February 4th, 2009 7:33 PM

LOL!! Levi was 17 pounds around 3 months!! :) haha - sorry, it's just funny to me. :)

gabby509 - February 4th, 2009 8:23 PM

Fefer, that sounds exactly like King's diet. He has also seemed to be starving the past week or so. The minute he wakes up from his nap, if I don't have his food ready he will be screaming. He breastfeeds probably 4 or 5 times a day and eats 3 meals a day of "food". Lately I've been trying to replace some of his baby food with table food and he seems to be doing really well with it. He ate macaroni's for lunch today. I just overboiled them so they were super-soft and then I cut the elbows in half. He picks them up and puts them in his mouth really good. He is also loving those gerber graduates yogurt melts. He crawls a ton but doesn't really seem to show an interest in walking or pulling up yet. If we stand him up and hold his hands, he will just stand there and smile. He hasn't quite grasped the fact that you move your legs to go forward. I think he would way rather crawl at this point than even try the walking thing. He is saying dada and daddy very clearly though. It's funny because I think he knows what he's saying, he only says it to Fred and puts his arms out to Fred when he says it. Who knows, it may be a fluke, but I like to think that he knows, haha. Ok well I must go put him to bed and try to get some food in my stomach, this morning sickness is kicking my ass.

gabby509 - February 4th, 2009 8:24 PM

Oh and by the way, I got King weighed at WIC today and he was 22 lbs 8 ounces, and 28 inches long. He needs to walk soon, my back can't take much more.

Sprinkles - February 4th, 2009 10:05 PM

LOL gabby you had wic today too! Yeah violet is I suppose a bit on the smaller side not for lack of eating though.. she eats 3 times a day baby food then nurses about 5 times a day or more counting overnight. She also has lots of snacks like puffs and biter biscuits. When I give her stage 3 food though she doesnt care for the consistency she actually gags so ..Im taking my time with that one. I baby her alot too .. i dont want her to hurry and walk and all .. maybe Im bad haha but I like her being a tiny lil baby .. it all goes so fast.

gabby509 - February 5th, 2009 9:08 AM

Dawnie, Violet is a perfectly normal weight. I actually got all these coupons from Gerber the other day and it said that the average weight for an 8 month old is anywhere from 14.5-17.5 lbs. So Little Miss Violet fits right in there. King is just a beast!!! People ask me if I overfeed him but I swear I don't. And he doesn't even really look that big he's just solid. Like his legs have 3 rolls on each thigh, haha. He also doesn't like the consistency of the 3rd foods. Like the meats and cinn apple oatmeal. The only one I got him to eat was the green beans and rice, he was still a little unsure of it though. SO I think we may just end up skipping the baby food meats, they look kinda funky to me anyways.

amanda17 - February 5th, 2009 9:55 AM

I'm not sure if I want Ellie to be a baby forever. I mean, I love this stage... But at the same time I look forward to watching her grow and being there for her every step of the way. Even when she's a teenager and makes me rip my hair out, I'll still appreciate that she's in my life and I'm in hers. And if I'm ripping my hair out chances are she's going through a rough patch, and I'll be glad, somewhere hiding under being furious, that I get to be there with her through it..... and yeah :)

eastcoast - February 5th, 2009 11:46 AM

Happy February girls! Right now my life is all about cleaning up potting soil, ripped plants, dry cat food and anything else Kai can (and does!) get into. He's such a little bugger too -everytime he goes near something and I say 'No, Kai -danger' (or something like that), he just tries to get to it faster and laughs at me -he seriously laughs his head off. He thinks it's a game I'm sure, but man, I'm tired from constantly chasing him around. It's funny how babes are, he now refuses bottles all together (I would pump so DH or my mom could feed him sometimes), and will only drink from his sippy cup, and in order for him to eat 'baby' food, I have to put it other food that has more texture -like he usually has toast for breakfast that is covered with his cereal and/or fruit. Or he'll only eat 'baby' food veggies if I mix in chunks of the real thing and/or chunks of meat or fish. He also loves finger foods but I'm running out of ideas for those -what are you guys using for finger foods?

fefer1 - February 5th, 2009 12:45 PM

Finger Foods - I used to just give Rachel whatever we were eating, cut small of course. Cheeses are good - shredded is great. Noodles, any kind of cooked/soft veggie, bananas, meatloaf chunks, tofu ( I hate the stuff but it's good for babies), cheerios (the multi grain are nice), ravioli, chunks of soft avocado, pieces of cooked chicken etc...
Eastcoast - it's good that he's refusing bottles. He should ge graduating to sippy cups now anyways. At least he takes them! Levi just chews on them - no interest whatsoever in drinking from it and refuses bottles still. It's boob or nothing. sigh...I'm NEVER going to get a break!!! I want to have him weaned at a year but I don't know that he's going to be so cooperative. :)

Well, I look forward to all stages of my kids ages, but they are babies for only so long and "independent" for the rest of their lives, so I'm gonna hang on to every moment of the baby years. Rachel grew up too fast - and she's just approaching 2 1/2. It's amazing how much you forget too - so write things down!!! :)

Oh, on the finger foods- what about the canned chicken?? Kinda like tuna but chicken??

gabby509 - February 5th, 2009 1:36 PM

Fefer, I know exactly what you mean about not wanting them to grow up. I can't wait to spend all the important times in King's life with him but it just seems to go by so fast. He is going to be 1 in 4 short months. I am really excited for it but at the same time kinda sad because he won't be my "baby" anymore. And Fred and I were talking and he doesn't want to have anymore than 2 kids, so this pregnancy may be my last, and although I'm sick and feeling horrible, I'm still kind of sad about it. And I know it's still really early in my pregnancy but I am alraedy feeling sad about how King will react to a new baby. I don't want him to feel pushed aside or neglected. I have devoted 100% of my attention to him for the past 8 months and when the new baby gets here, he will only be about 15 months, so he still won't really understand what's going on. DDT and Fefer, how did your fist lo's react to a new baby? I'm so scared he's gonna be mad at me and not want to be around me.
