Our ped prefers meds over thickened formula, but it really depends on the baby. I wound probably be hesitant to try the meds at that young of an age. There are several ways to go about using a thickened formula, adding cereal is one of them. There are products specifically designed for thickening the formula, and there are also specialty formulas like Emfamil AR which has a thicker consisitancy. Some moms add a small bit of rice cereal to the bottle of formula to get that slightly thicker consisitancy. The idea behind it is that if its thicker, it won't come back up as easily. As long as your lo doesn't act think he is in pain, I would try the other methods before asking for the acid reducing meds. You should look up Bonnie. She posts here often as is sort of the house expert on AR. Good luck!
