[Original Post]

Well ladies it looks like January is right around the corner and soon our little ones first birthdays will be here. I didnt put a season on just because it takes us a while to really get going. :-)

wv_red - December 30th, 2008 8:42 PM

Cg I am sooo sorry about the roids.... I have the same prob so trust me I feel your pain! Not fun! Well ladies I know its inevitable but have any of you thought about what you are going to do for their first birthdays? Victoria turns 7 months tomorrow and if the next 5 go as fast as the last 7 I better get on the move and start saving. Well I hope you are safe and recouping from the holidays! Take care!!

wv_red - December 31st, 2008 12:08 PM

Hey quick question... have any of you started snacks with finger foods? Just wondering when to start introducing that to her?

CgGirl - December 31st, 2008 1:44 PM

Red: I am wondering the same thing. I'm so afraid she is going to choke if I try... I'll see the pedi on the 12th, so I think i'll ask. I haven't thought of anything yet for Victoria's first birthday. I don't want to think about it cause when she turns one, it means I have to go back to work... :-(((((( I know I have to be grateful for the year I got with compensation, but that being said, I have been waking up every night for the past several weeks and cried thinking about the day I'll have to leave her. But we have no choice. There's just nothing I can do about it. I'm just really emotional right now!

reneenay - January 1st, 2009 1:42 PM

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been missing for a while. We had visitors here and it was really hectic over the holidays. And more are coming today but just for over night. Anyway, I've started thinking about Steven's first birthday but I still have no idea what we'll do. I suppose something will fall into my lap.

Steven will be 8 months in 15 days and I just started giving him gerber graduates snacks about a week ago. I recommend starting with those because they dissolve really quickly. If the Victoria's are kind of chewing when they eat their baby food then they can probably handle some finger foods. But you you're not sure, there is a list of criteria on the back of the package. Steven meets 3 out of 4 so I figured why not. The one thing he isn't doing is crawling yet so I figured that one wasn't a big deal. Anyway, it's a little scary at first but like I said, they dissolve really quickly so it's not bad. I think we'll try some cheerios next. About a month ago I made Steven some teething biscuits that he really liked too. But he doesn't really eat them, he just sucks on them for a while.

Happy new year! Talk to you soon!

ChattyKathy - January 1st, 2009 9:13 PM

Hi, ladies. Happy New Year!

No new milestones to share as of right now. As far as the food thing goes, I have been giving Gavin tiny pieces of bread or mushed up noodles, just to get him used to something a little more solid but he doesn't seem to be enjoying it. He's still working on getting teeth, I can see them starting to get closer to the surface, but nothing yet. His bottom teeth are so close though! I figure that we can stick to number two foods and soon move up to number 3 foods which are a bit more solid and maybe by the time he gets used to that he will have his teeth and he can start chewing on stuff like finger foods.

I am trying to get his medical card worked out since we currently have a 1k doctor bill since it didn't go through, thats on top of the 1k from his birth. Argh! So, until then I'm holding off on his 6 month shots and I don't know how much he weights. Probably a good think it was post poned anyway since he had a tummy virus for a bit around the original scheduling. But I figure that some moms wait 2 years before giving their kids any shots, so hopefully it wont be too bad to wait a few more weeks until we get everything worked out. Hopefully.

I have never heard of making teething biscuits. I'll have to look that up!
I hope everyones little ones are doing well and hopefully I can pop in again soon!

CgGirl - January 4th, 2009 9:46 AM

Hi everyone! Happy New Year! Chatty: It's good to hear from you! I sincerely hope that the medical card issues get resolved soon... Victoria doesn't have any teeth yet either. Renee: thanks for the tip about the gerber food. I hadn't even looked yet.
Well, AF came on December 31st. In a way, I'm glad but on the other hand, I don't know that I really want to start hoping to get pregnant only to get disappointed later during the month... Red: how are you?

wv_red - January 5th, 2009 10:21 AM

Hello ladies! Chatty, glad you made it on! That sucks about the doc bills but I know what you mean. We got hit with a 2k bill from my OB and its been fun trying to get that paid down and then having a nice lil bill every time she goes for shots cause the insurance sucks! I hope you can get on the medical card soon.Do they still make it a pain in the butt to get qualified? How is living with his folks going? You know Victoria isnt liking the chunkier food either... I gave her 3rd foods last night for the first time and she really didnt like the texture of it. So I guess I will hold off just a hair longer.

So is any of the little ones attempting to crawl yet?? No luck here although she can scoot . How is the big boy/girl tub going for you all?

Cg, I know what its like to stress every month over the "test". Everyone says the minute your not trying your pregnant so I hope with you trying but not gung ho will bring you symptoms soon :-) Renee, what recipe did you use for the biscuits? I googled it but there are tons. Man 8 months already. This is going to darn fast. Well ladies I am going to go. I have finished my 2 cups of dunkin donuts coffee, which is the bomb, and I need to go get dressed and start my day. Have a good one!!!!

reneenay - January 6th, 2009 1:23 PM

Hi ladies! Wow, that's great that Victoria is at least scooting around. Steven still hates "tummy time" and isn't interested in learning to crawl. Right now he is obsessed with me walking him all over the house. That's all he wants to do. No toys or books, he just wants to move! He's getting fast too...oh and he directs me where to take him. So cute! But I am really starting to think that he'll be one of those that walks before he crawls.

Steven had some cheerios and did well with them so I'm going to start doing finger foods. I've also started making his food chunkier and thicker and he seems to really like it. Do any of you know when we can start adding dairy/meats? I've read 8 months but then the nurse told me 9.

So Steven has been taking baths in the big tub the last few times. It's been good! I just have to watch him very closely because he lunges forward to reach for toys.

CgGirl, I guess it's back to the waiting game for you. I hope it goes well! How long did it take for you to get pregnant with Victoria? Are you back at work yet? My SIL has decided that she doesn't want to go back to work and her DH is so mad and stressed. It's going to be the battle of the century with those 2.

I can't believe Steven is almost 8 months. Which means we'll be starting for another baby in 4 months. I can't believe how time flies once you have a baby!

CgGirl - January 6th, 2009 8:08 PM

Hello ladies! It seems I see a tooth coming up the bottom gum!!! Renee: it took us 4 years and eventually help to get pregnant with Victoria. We aren't going to wait that long this time around to go back to the fertility clinic if needed (that was our mistake the first time). I'm going back to work at the beginning of May. I have started meat more than a month ago. Victoria eats beef, turkey and pork. I buy these organic little frozen containers of meat and it's better for the taste and freshness than the jarred ones. For the dairy, I think they recommend around 10 months around here, but I'll check with the pediatrician next week for the 8th month appointment. Funny, cause Victoria is wanting to crawl, but not for too long at a time. She is still not too interested at tummy time either!
Red: We haven't tried the big tub yet. We are still in the small one; it can last a while still; it was one that can be used for toddlers as well... supposedly! Chatty: I hope you come back soon!

reneenay - January 7th, 2009 2:22 PM

CgGirl, that's great that you found such a convenient and better way to give Victoria meat. I know we live in different countries and all but hopefully I can find something like that around here. Can you tell me more about it? Where do you buy it? What's the name of the company? I'm very interested.

Wow, I remember you saying that it took a long time to get pregnant with Victoria but I didn't know it was four years! You and DH must be very patient people. That must have been difficult. Thank goodness for modern mediicine!

It makes me feel really lucky...Steven was concieved by one night of make-up sex (lol). We did it once in a two week span and that's all it took. We weren't even trying to get pregnant that month...maybe that's why it happened. I guess I'm what they call a "Fertile Myrtle." We'll see if that happens with the second one but you never know. I know someone who unexpectedly got pregnant with her first baby on the pill. Now she's been trying for number two for two years and it's still not happening. It's a mystery!

wv_red - January 10th, 2009 8:55 PM

Hi ladies! How is everyone doing? So anything new going on? Hey Cg is that food your talking about is it called "Happy Bellies"? I am trying to find that stuff around here actually and I think Krogers may carry it. If thats it, Renee it would be in the organic section of the freezer foods.

Well ladies my MIl is once again butting her ass in Dh and my business. She has the gumption to tell me I NEED to move Victoria out of my bedroom. Excuse the hell outta me! The last time I checked my name is on the birth certificate, not hers! Seriously can you believe that! I told Dh that (1) it is none of her business and (2) it is not her place to even hint about that. I have already fore warned him that the next time she says it will be the last time. Guys she has already said it 3 times to us! It is not like she is sleeping with us and even if she was thats not her business either! I will move Victoria out when I want and if its not till she is 3 so be it!!!! Doubt it will be that long but it is the fact of the matter. You know. UGGGGHHHHH!!!! So how is it going with the in laws for you all? Cg?? How is your crazy MIL?

On another note... dd had her top teeth coming in, both at the same time, and she has decided that waking up at 530 - 6 is a must! Oh man! I am not use to that!

Well ladies I am outta here! I hope you all are well! Take care

CgGirl - January 11th, 2009 10:34 AM

Hello ladies! Renee, sorry for the late reply! What I buy is called : mother hen (dot com if you want to check out the web site). I doubt they sell in the US, but I'm sure you can find something similar. Let me know if you do! Also, one of my friend told me that there is a brand of cereal named: Nutrios. It's basically Cheerios (same shape and all), but more healthy for babies... I think I'll try that! Renee, you are ABSOLUTELY right; conception is a mystery. Most people don't realize that it's almost a miracle every time it happens! We are so blessed it happened to us all ! Red: I appreciate your feelings and understand them totally!!!! Just be yourself, because these people will always try to pick a fight, no matter what you do!
Well ladies, I've decided to try to start my own business on ebay. As of Friday, I'm going to sell brand new Gymboree clothes. I have only invested a small amount of money, so if it doesn't work out, no harm done, and then I guess Victoria will have a great ward robe! I'll let you know when I'm all set up so you can check it out if you want!

reneenay - January 12th, 2009 1:15 AM

Hey ladies! Not much new here. Steven still has only 2 teeth on the bottom and they've come up nicely now. He's eating all his fruits and veggies and I'm kind of wondering what to do next. I guess I'll do what my Dr wants and wait to introduce meat and dairy. I just hope he's not missing out by me waiting. What do you all think? Where are you at with food, Red?

Geez, why do all of our In-laws suck? They all just need to mind their own business. Red, hopefully your DH wouldn't blame you if you told her that very thing. You have every right to! My MIL is completely insane. My DH is actually working on doing an intervention for her sometime in the near future...yes, it's THAT BAD!

Oh man, I had Steven in the bath the other morning and he lunged forward to grab a toy and he fell forward and his face went in the water. I immediately snatched him up and and he was fine but I had a total heart attack!

I just did an extensive search to find happy bellies and mother hen and neither of them are sold around here other than happy bellies cereal. I guess it's off to Whole Foods for me...ugh, we'd better open up a savings account just for that!

reneenay - January 12th, 2009 1:16 AM

Oh ya, CgGirl, let me know when you start on Ebay and I'll check it out. Good luck :)

wv_red - January 12th, 2009 2:50 PM

Hey Renee try "Earths Best" baby food. Its what i give dd and its really good. Yes I had to taste test it... Its 89 cents a jar but totally organic and I think it is worth it. I am starting her on meats today so we will see how it goes. She is eating the Gerber Puffs all by herself now! I tried giving her 3rd foods but I have decided to go back to the 2nds. The thirds are way tooo chunky for her in some of them. The fruits and stuff are fine but some of the veggies are not. I think when she actually understands that chewing is a must then I will try again but not until then.

Hey Renee, I read on your page where you are still beating yourself up over the skinny thing with Steven. I want to let you in on a little something. A couple of months ago I dropped Victoria. She was fine... no broken bones just a few bruises and a very tearful mommy. But I kick myself everyday for that and I feel like the worst parent ever, I mean who drops their kid? I talked to my mom, the only other human that knows other then dh, and she told me some very good advise. You cant change the past but you can say your sorry and try to do better. if you dwell on what happened it will continue to bother you through out your life. You only get one shot at being a mom and your bound to make mistakes but use those mistakes to grow on. I know our things are different but I wanted to share that with you. Steven couldnt ask for a better mom and even if he could I doubt he would, at least till his teenage years.

Cg def let us know your site, I will pass it around :) Till then! I will talk to yall later!

I hope that you girls dont mind me butting in, but I also have a baby born 5/14/08 and I noticed the title and thought this would be the perfect place to ask a question. How many of your babies are sleeping through the night? My dd is still getting up 2x a night. It doesnt help that she sleeps with me (i know i know bad idea) but when i put her in her crib she screams and I feel horrible! Am I alone? Thanks :)
