Hi all! I am just curious: have any of you started potty training before a year? My dd is 10 months old & I started her at 9 months] It started when she was getting a bath one day & started the famous grunting before a #2, so I pulled her out of the tub & held her on the toilet & she went. She is very regular now & goes #2 every day, so when I get home from work each day I put her on the potty & of course I probably look silly, but I make little grunting noises & she usually goes within 5 minutes. The past few days I have trying to get her to go pee pee on the potty too, which has worked occasionally- I make a ssssssss noise & she will go. She knows she is doing the right thing b?c as soon as she goes she claps her hands & gives me a big hug. It amazes me how much babies really understand at such a young age. So, I just wanted to hear from you all & see how things are going in the potty training buisness & if anyone else has started this early, how did it pan out in the long run. Thanks ladies- have a great weekend!

We've been potty training since about nine months, too! LOL We don't do it very often, it's more a "get adjusted" thing. Her potty is available all day for playing, taking apart, etc.. and every once in a while, we put her on it (usually right after taking off her diaper) and I sit on the floor, with my legs propped up on either side of her. We sing, play hand games, or have juice in a sippy cup until she hops off. She's actually peed in it once, one of the first times I put her on it. I immediately announced this on Twitter... lol... and a friend of mine said she was sorry to tell me the pee might be a lie - basically, that it was coincidental, not an "on purpose" potty going. I laughed and replied that I had set it up - she was half asleep and it was 3 am, but I knew she'd pee right after I put her in a clean diaper, so I gave her the bottle, leaned her against my chest, and sat there with her dozing off on me and peeing in her potty at the same time. Here's the thing, though.. she will *bring* us a diaper if she wants to be changed. Recently, she pooped and we didn't know it, but found out when she tried to climb into her playpen. After choking, I put her in and lifted out her box of diapers to get a spot on the couch prepped for her to be changed. She fought me over her box, and we realized she was trying to get in because she saw her diapers in there and wanted to tell us she was done! LOL She also (sometimes) stays dry all night, and then flooooods when she's awake enough to hold her bottle. So now, we're going to start getting her up at 6 am with a bottle and the potty, let her go in that, and then put her back to bed for a couple hours.

i started puttin my dd on the potty at about 6 mos. ev erytime i see her start to push i say wait wait and quickly remove her pants a diaper. she always goes. now i find that she knows exactly what to do as soon as she gets on the potty. she is 12 mos now. sometimes she even crawls herself into the bathroom to let me know she needs to go. im trying to get her out of diapers now so i only have to deal with my 3 week ds and his diapers! lol look up elimination communication. it's alll about infant potty training
