This is not really a question...I just wanted to share. We got our daughter's ears pierced yesterday. She is 18 weeks old. Her ped. wanted us to wait until she had two rounds of shots (2mo and 4mo) before we got it done. I was very nervous about getting it done but I am happy to say it was a pleasent experience. it was over in super quick and she cried for literally about 2 seconds. I actually think she was crying because we had to hold her head still. She is a mover so she didnt like that. Just thought I would share for any other nervous first time mommies out there who are worried about doing it. Good luck!

Thank you. I want to get my dd's ears done and now I feel a little more reassured. I'm sure your little one looks beautiful with her little earrings.

I got my daughters ears pierces at 2 months. I wanted to wait untill she was atleast 2 months and had certain shots. I wouldnt do it any earlier than that but i am glad it turned out good with you.

I am so glad i did my daughters. A lot of people dont like pierced ears on a little baby but i love it, i think they are so pretty and i couldnt be happier that i got them done. My dd is 5 months old now. My In laws thought i was nuts for getting her ears pierced but i didnt listen because shes my baby and now they think they are pretty.

I have a boy but if I had a girl I would have done it early as well. My sister had her daughters ears done at 6 weeks old...and do you know who did it guess??? The doctor. My niece is now 6 years old, and her ears have been perfect.

Thanks ladies. I am raelly glad that I did it to. She is to little to pull on them or even notice they are there. I know a couple of people who got it done at the pediatrician's office to JAI. How convenient. We had our done at the mall.

oh my god a baby is not a doll to play with and dress up. ear piercing is something they should bhe allowed to decide when they are old enought o tell you they want it done. contrary to popular belief the holes dont actually heal over if they have been there long enought o scar. besides I think babies are naturally beautiful and dont need any jewellery etc to improve them you wouldnt tattoo your baby so why punch holes in them.

CarolA - April 26th, 2006 12:24 AM

haha whatever to ^ that ^ nobody said her baby was a doll..i think its cute, and coming from somebody that didn't get their ears pierced untill they were 10.. i would have much rather had it done when i was a baby. I was so scared when i went to have it done...i wish my mom just would have done it when i was little so i didn't have to worry about it. and besides whats the big deal with pierced ears? why wouldn't her daughter eventually want them pierced anyway? most women do.

Someone will always have something negative to say about everything. Ear piercing, curcumcision, vaccinations, potty training, discipline etc. I personally wouldn't pierce them that little for fear that she or another child would pull them out but I do think it looks cute. I worry too much.

So often we lose sight of what this website is for. It makes me sad. It seems like things are posted just to start a debate. I merely posted my story for other mothers like Mary who are thinking about getting it done but are nervous. I know my daughter is not a doll. If you don't believe in piercing a little girl's ears then don't do it. Everyone has a right to make their own decisions for their own children.

Nicely said YC!

I agree...I am starting to get scared topost questions or responses because some people have just too much to say, and not nice comments. We are all suppose to be here on the site to help each other out, not put down and critize one another.

hi there!! im scared myself to get my baby girls ears peirced..we have her first round of immunizations in the morning and im scared!! i even cry!! I think im being too paranoid! but just the thought of her being in pain kills me..im going to ask the doctor about the ears peirced thing..if they do it there..i wonder if they use the gun?

HannahBaby - May 8th, 2006 8:54 AM

Dont be scared!! I cried like a baby when they brought the needles in for her shots. They are so different than piercing the ears. The shots go into the muscle. The earing only goes through flesh. (i have had about 6 non ear piercings and can say that shots hurt worse than getting my tounge pierced.) I waited until my daughter feeding time then took her to the piercing pagoda, sat down, gave her her bottle and had them pierced, she whined a little bit. ONE BIG PIECED OF ADVICE!! DO NOT let them do them at the same time!! I figured it would be easier for the baby but the piercers "thought" that they were straight and one way way higher than the other, so we had to take the higher one out and go back in a few days to get it repierced. Good luck

I used to pierce baby's ears. Rarely do they cry more than a few seconds at most. :)

lauren - May 8th, 2006 10:06 AM

I got my DD ears peirced at 2 months, and im so gald i did! She only cried for like 2 seconds, and that was because i had to hold her head against my chest, she didn't like that. Her earings have never botherd her, and they never got infected. And they gave me a specilalnon-alcoholic cleaning soultion, so it didn't sting when i had to clean and turn her earings. She would just giggle and coo when i clened them :)
