I am just wondering if anyone else has this problem. I have a 7 month old beautiful baby girl very intelligent and very sweet! Only no matter what I can't get her to eat anything but the boobies! I have tried EVERYTHING! I have put it on her toys, let her play with the food on her tray, gave her the spoon and tried every food out their! I make my own with a blender, but I have also tried purchasing baby foods. She literally spits it at me then cries! I need help and the pedi's are getting on my case!

the most you can do is keep offering. you cant force her to eat if she doesn't want to. and breastmilk SHOULD be her main source of nutrition for the first year. you want her to get used to the different tastes and textures of foods, but nutritionally, she'll be fine. my dd was just barely starting solids at this age and now she eats just about anything.

I do keep offering, she is up all the time because she is constantly feeding because she never feels full. The doctors are on my butt telling me I need to get at least a meal a day down her. She will only eat whipped potatoes with home made gravy and only a small amount. Why are these doctors forcing me to feed her all the time? They should understand that some babies are picky and mine is just too picky and is a booby lovin babe!

Maybe you could take her to a baby health clinic? They are usually run by registered nurses and i find that they are a great resource for information on the development of babies and children. They may be able to offer you more information what you could offer her. Its all very well for the pediatrician to tell you what you 'should' be doing, but it would be a lot more helpful if they could at least advise you on how you should go about giving her extra nutrition and introducing her to solids.

she's 7 months, she doesn't NEED extra nutrition. breastmilk is far superior to formula, there is no NEED for foods un till a year. if she likes potatos then go with potatos. so long as she's growing like she should i wouldn't worry. you could ask to see a child nutritionist if the doctors keep pushing you.

Yes I understand that you think that she doesn't need anything but breast milk but the fact is, is that she will not sleep because she doesn't feel full enough and that is why it is so important for me to try and get something a little bit heavier for her. Also she is very lactose and soy intolerant so we are both not getting what we really do need. And thanks Lisa I will do just that!

Babies usually begin to eat solid food at the age of 5 months, of course she needs extra food in her diet!! Ask any pediatrician or child health expert. Children also need extra protein in their diet at this age. You could maybe start with something like mashed banana and yoghurt, or even something as simple as infant cereal (farex) with a bit of pureed fruit. As Skyes momma has already stated....she doesn't seem to feel 'full' enough. Go with your instincts, they are usually right.

try pumping and making her rice cereal with the breast milk, if it tastes more familiar, maybe she will be more inclined to try it. Hope it helps!

Thank you all you have been most helpful! I found out that the only things she will eat is crunched up arrow root cookies and mashed potatoes with gravy. For some reason she detests utensils, she loves to chew on them, but she hates to eat from them. She's unique that's for sure, always chewing on tags and finding the longer string on the carpets and playing with them. It really is the cutest! And Lisa that is really it she needs a little more in her diet and she's just so darn picky. The thing about the rice cereal is that I use to express my breast milk for the rice cereal but now she eats so darn much that I can't express as much as she would need for a meal. It's just on going ( he he ). But thank you all! Hugs and best wishes!
