Hi ladies, my dd is 9 months and had the stomach flu (as dh and I did as well before her). She had been fine for over 36 hours, no more vomiting (she had just vomited twice anyway, but also had diarrhea). Since yesterday afternoon, I was feeding her small portions of apple sauce and then later, rice cereal, several times a day, as well as small amounts of formula (2oz at a time). Today I increased the portions, but not to the full amount she usually takes. Tonight, I moved on to giving her pears and oatmeal... she threw it right back up about 30 minutes later. It was a lot.
How long should I keep feeding her small portions for? I mean, she was still in a good mood and all so the bug seems to be gone, but not sure how long I have to keep the small portions for...

Hi CgGirl- I'm so sorry your dd is not well, it's so hard when they're sick and there is nothing you can do. I don't think you did anything wrong b/c you allowed her to take the lead and determine how much she was willing to eat. Just like adults, sometimes we're not as ready as we feel and it comes back up. I would try to keep her meals bland and make sure she drinks enough to avoid dehydration. You don't suppose she contract the same bug a second time since she was well for 36 hours?

btw- don't beat yourself up about it!

Thanks Clindholm, she is better now. I think her stomach was still a little weak. I kept her on apple sauce and rice cereal (small portions, every hour) and only a little bit of formula at a time for 48 hours. Today is our first day back on schedule... I'm glad it's over.
