Pack socks. The hospital does not provide any for the babies. Make sure you pack for 4 nights, in case of an emergency c section. You won't want to be short clothing if you have to stay 2 extra nights. This happened to us. |

And pack and extra nightgown bc when your milk comes in, it stains everything and you will probably leak at night. |

Your own shampoo and body wash and lotion. I don't know about your hospital but ours has terrible shampoos and what not. An extra bag (to take gifts home in), I wished I would have but I never thought about it. I think and see what I can come up with. |

baby lotion, the hospital won't give you any. Brittany's feet were so dry they cracked and bled. Also, a pair of sweats or comfy clothes something besides a nightgown. My baby had jaundice and had to stay an extra 2 nights on the bili lights. They were not going to let me stay with her but I was bf and raised hell, so they moved us up to the pediatrics so I could stay in the room with her. All I had to wear was my nightgown and robe, which was not fun walking down the hall in. |

I packed way too much. Only stayed 2 days at the hospital, but packed for god knows how long. I really only needed pajamas, and a couple of loose fitting outfits. I took stuff like a hair dryer thinking I would want to sort of fix myself up for company. I was too light headed to stand too long the first couple of days, and way too tired to worry about how I looked. Definitely pack enough in case of a section, but don't pack like you would to go out of town a few days if that makes any sense! I packed a few outfits for baby, and did use those. I couldn't wait to dress him up until we got home! |

Yeah, it's nice to pack your own clothes. Everyone on my ward was dressed in their comfy clothing. I wore my gown the first night but showered and changed the next day. |

Chapstick, slippers and socks, a robe (or your own pjs, they have still not got hospital gowns that close in the back!) the baby book (you want the footprints in the book), your own shampoo, soap and a good loofa (I was very dry feeling after the c-section, especially in my stomach area, dh had to go buy one b/c the first showerd didnt do any good) For the baby I was very happy we had the gowns that had elastic on the bottom and lots of socks, and hats (the hospital ones are UGLY!) |

I have read so many posts about women leaking onto their clothes... Don't you have breastpads? I use them all the time and have never leaked onto clothing yet. I packed 2 outfits for me, 4 for baby and 4 sleepsuits. All different sizes cos you never know how big they gonna be. I took about 15 nappies and a bag of cotton wool. I needed an extra pair of socks for me and another towel, which my mum brought in for me when she visited. |

Bring your own toiletries. I just wore the hospital gown b/c I didn't want my own clothes stained with milk or blood. They gave me a nursing gown, which was kind of nice. By the day I went home, I got sick of the hospital gowns and was glad to put on my track pants and a t-shirt. I also brought a pair of flip flops which I could wear around the hospital and to the shower as well. I agree that lotion and Chapstick are also good to have around too. You also may want to take a magazine- something funny and/or light- for during the early part of labor. I didn't, but there was a Star left in the room where I was laboring, and the nurse and I kept looking through it and making jokes about the people in it- LOL! Last thing I just htought of- nirding pads for your bra in case your milk comes in. I wish I had them bc I leaked. :P |

I had to send my husband out for little mittens to keep my baby from scratching her face. I took shorts and t-shirts, but I just wore my own nightgowns and robe. I also took a couple of books to read, but I was able to keep my baby in the room with me the whole time, so I didn't need anything to read after all. I did take little clothes for her, she was so small that the hospital t-shirt was falling off her shoulders. (Actually my sister went to walmart in the middle of the night and bought preemie sleepers). The suitcase I took was one of those garment bags that folds over and zips, with the wheels and handle you can pull out...not a bad suitcase. but I couldn't lift it to the bed after my c-section, and I was sharing a room with someone else (a bitch, but never mind) and there was no space on the floor big enough to open the suitcase. I couldn't get any of my stuff out until my husband came by to help me. If I ever had to do it again, I'd take a backpack or gym bag instead. |

I really wish I would have thought to bring a boppy. Not only does it make breastfeeding easy, but you can also sit on it and it takes a lot of pressure off if you've had a vaginal delivery. I left the hospital in less than 24 hours because I was so unconfortable. |
