1) I stopped boiling water for formula at about 6-7 months old.

2) I started offered water in a sippy cup during meal times. Both my lo's only started really drinking small amounts at 8-9 months old. No juice until 18 months old and only occasionally and very small diluted amounts. It's more a treat than a regular thing.

3)With ds1 I used Avent bottles so sterilized until ds1 was 11 months old. With ds2 I used Playtex Drop-ins so couldn't use my sterlizer. I washed by hand in hot, soapy water every day.

1) I've never boiled water for formula, although I asked my doctor, and she said the city water in my area was ok (after 6 weeks). So you might want to check with your doc or local water supply.

2) My little one is younger than yours, so I haven't given him plain water yet. Well, I did -- mixed with pear/prune juice to dillute the juice when he was constipated.

3) I use the drop-ins too, so I didn't use a sterilizer. I hand wash the bottles too in hot, soapy water everyday. Or, I sometimes use the microwave steam bags to sterilize the nipples, rings, etc.

I stopped sterilizing everything at about 6 months if not before. I use bottled water for her formula bottles. I think I started giving water around 8 months? Now I give her juice diluted with water as much as I can in addition to her formula and breastfeedings because she tends to get constipated and her dr. actually suggested I give her full strength juice but I add water anyways. My dd is now 11months old.
