How Long Do Dry Infant Cereals Keep?

So, I am stopping solids for now. But he has 2 open boxes of dry cereal, one rice, one barley. If I was to try again in a month would they still be good? Or should I toss 'em. Each box cost like 2 bucks, so its not really a big deal, but I hate to waste food!

The side of the boxes I have say that after one month you should toss the opened box. I don't know why though.
