yesterday we got a toddler bed for my dd who is 14 months old (almost, will be next week) I didnt intend to use it so soon but today when i told my dd is was nap time and time for her to go night night she climbed in the bed and put her head on the pillow, so I figured what can ithurt to let her try to nap in the bed, although I expected to have to go backin the room and move her to her crib. Well, I handed her a paci and her blankie and said night night and 10 minutes later I went into check on her and she was asleep!! so should I continue with the bed or keep useing her crib?

the bed was hand me down and the only reason we have it so early is because the family gave it to us because they were done with it...I thought 14 months was to early for a bed, anyone put their baby in one this early?

I put my oldest dd in a toddler bed when she was 12 months....and my boys too, they climbed out of the crib, so I HAD to put them in big boy beds hehe. If she is doing great with it, I would totally keep with that! :)

Both my girls were sleeping in toddler beds by that time. I just made sure they were old enough to get on and off the bed safely (not head first off!). My son is just about 12 months and I'm not sure when I will take him out of his crib just because he will go straight to a twin bed. I will probably do the same thing and wait at least until he can get off the bed safely by himself.

I know a lot of mothers who have placed their one yo's in a toddler bed. Some even felt it was an easier adjustment than older children who really knew to press buttons and get there way. Also, as your baby gets older, they get more reluctant to just "go to sleep" so I think yeh, if you lo does well let her. I would maybe place a babygate outside her door so if she is to get up in the middle of the night she can't get out of her room and get hurt.

I'm just amazed that your dd went to bed on her own and fell asleep. :) If that's what it would take for my son who is just a few week younger to fall asleep, then by all means, its not too early for a toddler bed

I am only scared to let her sleep through the night in the bed because I am affraid she might not stay in the bed and get into trouble in her room, not that there is much for her to get into. It would be a good thing to get her to go in the bed though because she is still sleeping in our room in a pack and play, I imagine a bed would be more comfortable. I'm torn - for those of you that did put them in the bed, did they get out at night?
