When Do You Start Using A Pillow.

I started giving my oldest a pillow when she was 9 months old. The kids ped. said it was fine. She was also using stuffed animals for a pillow, that is what made us give her a pillow. |

dd has always slept in her boppy pillow, to keep her head elevated. |

My ped (it's military so keep that in mind) said that it was better for them to sleep without a pillow for as long as possible. Said it was better for their spine. That being said, Nathan had one when he was 18 months old and Jadon uses his stuffed animals when he isn't on his tummy. |

Emmie, I have been wondering the same thing. Thanks for asking the question. |

I started using a pillow before the age of one. I just made the decision to try it during nap and to see how well she did with it. She did really well. She had gotten congestion and she had ALWAYS slept w/ a blankie, as both my kids do, and did well with that. I have never had a problem with the pillow. Ds, is 7 mths. He just recently got "un"elevated and I don't plan on putting a pillow for a little while longer. There hasn't been the need yet and he is still too little. I wouldn't suggest it if you lo buries their head into the animals, floor, mattress, etc. Or, if baby is a tummy sleeper to the core. |

We usually give the kids pillows when they transition to their "big bed". My dd is 2 and a half and still doesn't have one. It all depends on the kid I think and what you feel comfortable with. Some of the kids had it much earlier...she is probably the latest. |

I started my son with a pillow when he was able four or five months. But I just read that they shouldn't get a pillow until they are two. |

kiera has had one of my thin pillows since she went into her own room, she doesnt bother with it really she has a seperate cushion at the side of her so she feels like she is in bed with me |

My lo is 9 weeks old and I have always used a pillow. She had a really hard time breathing so I had to elevate her. She has gotten better now that I stopped using that night time bathwash. |

Welll my advice is probably not the brightest because they say giving pillows to infants can lead to SIDS however, my ds has been sleeping on a pillow since about 4 months! although he had been sleeping with me most of that time, but He loves his pillow, when I sit him on my bed, he immediately crawls up to my pillow and lays his head down. But since your ds is 13 months I think its ok. |

Do you give them a full size pillow, or do they make childrens pillows that are smaller? I want a super thin one for dd. |

I made Austin a pillow and he loves it. I believe I did this around 14 months old. Of course he travels alot in his sleep and sleeps on it for maybe half the night.....no problems. |
