i tried giving my 9 month old son a little yogurt yesterday he loved it but bad thing is the poo not the best and gave him the worse diaper rash today, it is so bad and he has never had diaper rash, what can i do beside put the heavy duty diaper rash cream on, let it air out which i am going to do right now. i have been washing it with water, i feel so bad. will a bath make it feel better or should i stay away from the bath tonight, any suggestion would be great!

my dd only had diaper rash once and I used Desitin and it cleared up really fast. I've also heard that letting it air out also helps so i would keep on doing that as much as you can as well as changing diapers as often as possible. Hope this helps and I hope your little guy feels better soon.

I use neosporin on my kids when they have a diaper rash. It is the only thing that works on them. My 5 month old was on 2 different types of antibiotics when she was in the hospital, and it gave her a way bad diaper rash...that was the only thing that would work. I would still give a bath, just use something extra gentle.

This last month, I would call myself the "Go To Person For Diaper Rash Questions". Do you get the point that we are having issues at our house? Baths are terrific. Minimize exposure to soap. In fact, if it is so bad that it hurts to wipe, it is recommended that a "quick rinse" in the tub be used instead of wipes or a wash cloth. Make sure you let your lo dry completely before applying some creme as a barrior. Otherwise, you could be sealing in the moisture instead of sealing it out. Air out that tush if possible. I am not that brave though! Get something with a zinc oxide in it. Balmex, destine, butt paste all work good. Yogurt is pretty rich on little tummies. If you try it again, only do a few spoonfuls and the see if there is a reaction over the day or so. There could be an intolerance. I will say that my dd loves it so much that she will eat enough to make her bottom sore! Too much of a good thing is not always a good thing.

The bath is great for diaper rash. How does your lo do on cheese? I am thinking you may have a milk intolerance on your hands. My ds if he has milk he will break out in little red bumps that bleed on his bottom. He screams and is so miserable with milk. I hope its the the same for you. Thankfully they make Lactaid a life saver!!

thanks for the suggestions, i just air'd his bum a little. it is a little better then this morning due to lots of diaper cream. i have given him small amounts of cottage cheese and some shredded cheese and he did fine, but small amounts. with the yogurt i gave him a 1/4 of the small containers, so not that much. i think i will wait another month at least before trying to give it to him again
