You know we get into this mind set that 'its got to be better...' but with castor oil, for most of us at least, will just make you even more miserable than you are right now. Yet we all have to try it LOL.. Just be prepared for the concequences. I tried it because my mother in law insisted that it had worked for her. So we went out and bought some and I took it...well we had an hour and a half car ride back home from her place. Worst car ride I've ever had! Getting off at every exit it seemed. So if you do decide to take it make sure you are home and you have someone to take care of you.

It worked for me. Took it when I was almost 39 weeks at only 1cm dilated and 20% effaced. Five hours later, got mild diarrhea and contractions started at 2-4 minutes apart. and was at 3 cm. 25 hours later, I gave birth.

I took castor oil at 38 weeks. I did start having contractions but they disapated after about 8 hours. i had the runs, not terribly...it wasnt a bad experience. I would try it again. I am now 40 weeks and i might try it this week again so i dont have to be induced!

This is my second pregnancy.. my first was born at 37 weeks weighing 9lb 9oz. I have had a false start this weekend - got examined and was told my baby is huge now and my cervix is softened. I have tried everything, the last thing i want is to be forced to have a c-section because baby is too big - gonna take a little castor oil now and then go for a walk round mothercare

Update: The initial stomach cramps were horrid - kept rocking in bed with them. To cut a long story short - was like that for an hour and then had a bowel movement. Feeling less bunged up now and contractions have been occuring every 4 min since - hoping this is it

Well I tried it, I only did an ounce, I got NOTHING.. So I think I have to drink more. Cuz there was no effect at all. It is kinda gross though, taste like eating lipstick LOL :)
