My sister told me that during labor a woman's digestive tract and stomach stop working. Is this true?

NO not at all... when you have a hospital birth they dont let you eat that way incase you have to have a C section then there is no so much on your stomach that is going to cause you to get sick. Your sister needs to look up her knowledge somewhere else because that is just wrong. Good luck to you.

You can eat during labor. I had a home birth with a midwife. I could eat and drink while laboring..thank god..it made me very thirsty. I could eat things like yoguart, crackers, cheese and fruit..to keep my strength and drank cranberry juice and apple juice and loads of water too. I hear that they dont let you eat in hospitals incase they have to wheel you for emergency c-section or surgery...but, yes, you can eat during labor.
