At my last appointment they told me that my cervix was 75% effaced and that I had dilated 1 centimeter. What exactly does that mean? When my cervix is 100% effaced will I go into labor?

No one can no for sure apparently. The doctors can make an educated but at this stage of the game it could be tomorrow or weeks from now. I have been 2cm for over a week and almost completely effaced but still told that I can go overdue. I am 37 weeks as of yesterday.
