Hey ladies, I was wondering if anyone has gone through early labor and then one day it stops? And if you have been dilated to 2 cm one week, to being .5 cm dilated the next week?

One day the contractions, including Braxton Hicks, just stopped. The doctor said me and the baby were fine, but he wants to induce a week from today. This is my second pregnancy, and I will be 39 weeks on Thursday. My doctor has never seen this with a second pregnancy. My first was a little rough with a perfect delivery. I was contracting 6 weeks before she was born with no dilation. Then she was born on her due date, with a short delivery. I was dilated 5 cm, then an hour later I was pushing. After an hour of pushing, she was born. I was told this was strange for a first time mom.

My doctor never told me anything, just that he wants to induce. I was wondering if this situation was normal?

Shea, the one thing you shuld try to keep reminding yourself is that everyone's pregnancy is different. Don't get caught up in the "normal" question. I am trying to use this advice every day...

As long as your doctor is finding that your little one is checking out fine in every other way, like heart beat, etc., I am sure you two will be great. I hope, for your sake, your next appointment's news is more optimistic.
