I have heard many times about complications due to the cord wrapping around the babys neck, and it kinda makes me nervous. What I do not understand, is why this would cause a problem when teh baby does not take its first breath until outside the womb? Is there a way to predict this before labour?

Well at my appointment when we found out the sex our baby had the three parts its suppose to. I have never heard of only having one

Michelle, I think the problem is that when the cord gets wrapped around the baby's neck it gets compressed and restricts the flow of blood to the baby. It is pretty common. My brother had it and he is fine.
