I haven't had any regular contractions from having sex. I'm 37 +3wks pregnant, 50% effaced, 1cm, lost plug and I just get ROCK HARD Tummy right after sex for about 5-10 mins, and then it goes away and I'm left with a very sore vaginal area for the next day or so. That's about it. So don't look to it to be a short-term fix for inducing labor!

sex didn't work for me at all. we had sex almost everyday trying to have our daughter ( i was 11 days over due.)

Hi All, I had my membranes stripped today and so I am just waiting to see what happens. Although I have heard that this is not proof-positive way of starting labor either.

sex definatly works i'd say! this is my 2nd pregnancy in 2years & although i don't have any energy for it this time i certainly did 1st time round & went into labour 1week early,i had sex the day before & almost every day! i also drank raspberry leaf tea from 36weeks, i'm now at 32+weeks with my 2nd baby & am trying to find energy to have a sex life before the baby arrives & hopefully the baby will arrive a lot quicker! I'm also counting the weeks till i get started on my raspberry leaf tea aswell, i think both sex & the tea work well together.

I am 36 weeks and 1 day. The ultrasound says 37 weeks and 1 day and has been putting me ahead all along. They think the baby is baout 7 and half to 8 pounds already. Oweeee. 4 days ago I started having extremly painful contractions 4-8 minutes apart for 24 hours non stop. They hurt with back cramping and the works.. I went in I was 2 cm dialated a little thinned out. I went back in later because they hadn't stopped and nothing had really changed. I start spotting some pink that day . Then the next morning they just stopped and spaced out to whenever but still extremly painful... My doctor said the baby is fully engaged. So anytime. This is my 5th child. SO I guess were going to try some sex for the first time in 5 months tonight and some walking because this could take a while to get things going. My doctor telling me she is that big tells me she is off on my dates like I and the ultrasound have been thinking all along. I'm scared though because when I get contractions they are sooooooo painful completley like the real thing but they only took me to 2 4 days ago. I believe I ahve alread lots my plug about 2 weeks ago to. SO who no's..

it helped with my first baby; i had sex the next morning my water started leaking (they told me it was from the sex)

Ok im 38 wks pregnant, and im dialeted to two with my 2nd son, I have been having contractions for 4 wks and nothing, and at my 37th wk me and husband been having sex with no luck. my fingers and hands and feet are swollen and hands always go numb and I never do anything for that to happen.. I was wondering how I can induce my labor w/o me hurting my son

Sex and a lot of walking worked for me. I had sex the night before I went into labor. It somehow softens the cervix which helps your labor.

Have you had your membranes stripped?

Orgasms!! You have to have actual orgasms, it really helps to soften the cervix, also have your hubby ejaculate in you and try to keep it in as long as you can, there is something in sperm that softens the cervix as well.

Well me and my boyfriend been having sex and everytime I was in enough pain that I thought I was in labor. I went to the hospital 4 times already and they sent me home because all it was was an irritable uterus. It really bites hard to know that I have been in early labor for almost 3 weeks and I am only 3 cm and 50% effaced. I really just want this to be over...I am ready to see my little man...and to get my body back. :)

THE DAY I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND GOT INDUCED I HAD SEX WITH MY PARTNER. I THINK IT HELPS ALOT. I HAD SEX AND THEN WITHIN 5 MINUTES MY CONTRACTIONS STARTED. THEY WERE IRREFULAR BUT EVENTUALLY GOT CLOSER AND CLOSER. I WAS IN SOOO MUCH PAIN AND CUDNT SLEEP SO I WENT IN

I know this is an old thread, but hopefully someone knowledgeable will answer. Since I've had a previous c-section I can't be induced because of the heightened risk of uterine rupture, so I was wondering if it is safe to have sex (given that semen contains prostaglandins, the same hormones used in induction) at 38 weeks plus, or if this will increase my risks of rupture??? If labour can be safely induced by sex, that would be great as I know they'll give me a c-section if there is no progress by next week. I can't get a coherent response from doctors as here where I live (in Japan) the general attitude (believe it or not in the 21st century) is to avoid sex while pregnant, so any help would be appreciated.

didnt help me... i have been dilated 3 cm for 3 weeks tuesday, i'm going on 39 weeks, my DH works out of town and is only home every 16 days for 5 days and last time he was home we tried the sex thing 3 times a day one time 4, for the entire 5 days he was home and I'm still at 3 cm gonna be induced Wed Morning!!!
