11 weeks pregnant on Tuesday - started bleeding last night and went for an emergency scan this morning. They have told me there is no sign of a baby, only a pregnancy sac which is only 18mm. I have now been sent home to wait to see if I miscarry and if not I've to go back for another scan and D&C next week. Can't believe this is happening...... feel so numb. People are expecting me to go back to work etc but feel I can't until there is closure. So worried incase we can't conceive again without problems - has this happened to anyone and if so have they gone on to have another baby? If so, how long did it take to get pregnant again?

I have been visiting this forum religiously for about a year but have not yet posted. This happend to me with my 1st pregnancy, my 2nd ended in a missed miscarriage (D & C) and my 3rd was a Turner Syndrome baby that only made it to 12 weeks (D & C). I am now 30 weeks pregnant with my 1st child but 4th pregnancy. With my 1st pregnancy, I ended up with a blighted ovum at 7 weeks. My doctor and radiologist told me that basically the egg was fertilized but never implanted...so it was never really a baby. After my 2nd miscarriage, I went through all the testing and found out that I have Factor V Leiden (a blood clotting disorder). I now have to take shots once a day to keep my pregnancy. The answer is YES - you will conceive again with no problems! It took me 3 months in between all of my pregnancies, which can seem like forever when you are trying to replace a loss. Just know that blighted ovums are common as are miscarriages; although I know that does not make it easier for you. I wish you the best of luck and pray that you get the miracle you dream of!!
