Does anyone know the average fetal heart rate of a down syndrome fetus. Is it in the usual range of 120-160 or lower generally speaking.

The doctors thought that my little girl (whom I'm 24 weeks pregnant with) might have Down Syndrome at one point...but I had an amnio done and it was proven false. The thing that made them think she could have it was that her heart has some fluid around it, which can be a sign. I never heard them mention anything about the heart beat...not to say that's not and indicator, but I haven't seen or read anything on the heart beat....and believe me, I've read a lot since this whole thing started. A heart beat of less than 100 is always alarming, and should be addressed by your doctor and can be a sign of something far more serious. Babies with Down Syndrome usually have other factors....like fatty tissue around the back of the neck or their femur may be smaller in length. The best way to determine if your baby has Down Syndrome is through an amnio, but they are also risky and have about a 1% chance of complications if the doctor is experienced. Always do research on your doctor to find out how many they have performed and how many ended in complications. I hope I was able to help you with your question in some way.
