Hi skn331,

I am 16 weeks, will be 17 weeks this coming Thursday.

Hi Rowena,

My uterus is also enlarged but hopefully that is a good thing because your uterus is expanding to accomodate that nasty fibroid and your little baby. When I was 8 weeks my uterus measured 20 weeks and I pray it continue to grows so my 4 fibroids don't become a problem. It is normal to be sick for a day and then be fine after that. Are your pains caused by the fibroid or just hormones from being pregnant? With my fibroids it is not out of the ordinary for me to be sick with pain for a day and light spotting and the next day pain and spotting is gone. Just hang in there and think positive. I know for me personally it is hard hearing other people say that but on this page we can all relate to each other.

Rowena,
I'm 10 w 6d and I have a fibroid similar to yours. 10 cm at front of my uterus. I get some occassional pain on my side (lasts 2-3 hours, not cramping) about 2-3 times a week and I get nauseaous in the evenings. I guess I'm getting used to it now. I'm not sure if this is due to fibroid or a normal symptom of being pregnant. For me, what I've realized is that I get the pain when I don't take enough breaks. I tend to work straight 8 hour days and I've realized that I need to slow down and I've had to take walks and leave early, because when I push myself to finish my 8-hour day, then I feel sick and I'm in pain for the next 3-4 hours. Hope you feel better. I can't imagine having to go through 2 m/c. I saw a nurse recently that told me to stop worrying about things I can't control. She was right, I don't know what will happen with the fibroid, but I need to take care of things I have control over, like resting when I feel tired, exercising, and eating nutritiously. That's all I can do at this point and wish for the best.

Hi everyone, I hope all the mommies and babies are doing great! I have a question and hope I can get some input, I will be 17 weeks pregnant tomorrow and last week I started spotting and some very mild pain..like gas pains (I know the pain was from the fibroids because I had the same pain before)...I wasn't going to worry about it but then I passed a clot.. I didn't feel anything I just saw it when I went to pee...probably the size of a quater..that got me scared and I went to the ER..they checked me out and said everything was fine..baby was doing great... The spotting only lasted for a few hours.. I think it stopped before I even got to the ER.. Then Monday night I started spotting again..brownish in color no pain then it stopped then this morning I woke up went to bathroom and had a small brown spot on my undies! Of course now I'm freaking out.. It is now noon and the spotting has stop..still brown in color and no pain with the spotting... does anyone else has this problem due to fibroids or just due to pregnancy. I am hoping the spotting is from the fibroids because there are two on the bottom of my uterus...one on my cervix and the other on/above my bladder? I guess my long question is does anyone else have brown spotting on and off without pain due to the fibroids and should I be REALLY worried about it? Oh one more thing it doesn't seem like anything is flowing..its more like the blood/discharge is just sitting in there and is only notieable after I pee..does anyone know what I mean? Sorry for such a long post!!

Joker, I have had several instances of that happening. My doc has checked me out eash time and said everything was fine, dont know where the blood is coming from. He gueses from my cervix though. He told me that brown blood is old blood clearing out, so its not as worrisome as red blood. It takes a while for your body to flush that blood out sometimes. I think you can relax a little. I do call my doc every time it happens (its happened 4 or 5 times) but every time everything has checked out ok. Let us know if anything else happens. and I just have to say, I only have 8 more weeks!

Hi skn331,

Hope everyone is doing okay. I have been sick this past week and finally went to see a doctor today. I have strep throat. The doctor prescribed Azithromycin (Zithromax) AKA, a Z-Pack. I'm a little anxious about taking it. Has anyone else taken this antibiotic during pregnancy?

Rowena - May 15th, 2006 6:18 AM

Hi Girls, Hope everyone is ok. Suzy: I dont know specifically about AZT but Antibiotics are usually safe after 12 weeks. Ur doctor shold check that. I always read the leaflets.

Rowena - May 15th, 2006 6:22 AM

Pls does anyone experience this, sometimes i feel my fibroid just get tense and sort of stick out. does really hurt but stimes it feels like theres some contraction with it as well. it usually goes away after a few mins but i get a bit worried. does anyone have this any wat can it cause . pls help

Joker - May 15th, 2006 6:16 PM

Hi everyone, I hope everyone is doing great. Suzy, I don't know anything about antibiotics but it should be safe to take since your doc gave it to you...Rowena, how far along are you? I have not experienced anything like that with my fibroids..only mild to extremely severe pain in my lower ab.. Could it be from the baby kicking or punching them?? Take Care everyone.

Rowena - May 16th, 2006 5:20 AM

Sorry i meant it does NOT really hurt. I'm just 12w 6d soits unlikely to be baby kickin them. but i'l ask at my next appt on thurs.

skn331 - May 16th, 2006 2:11 PM

JOker: I think I have three fibroids in the front, lower part of my uterus and one on the back side. I know I have one near my cervix and it is in the way of a bikini cut c-section, I am am having a classic c-section instead. Whoo hoo!. Lets hear it for the scar down the belly. Suzy, my doc told me at 10 weeks I could take a z-pack for a sinus infection. How is everyone doing? I havent had any contractions for almost a week, so maybe the third trimester will be better? IS everyone still haning in there?

Joker - May 16th, 2006 4:04 PM

Hi skn331, Congrats on no contractions for a week.. I hope it stays like that until you are due! I have two fibroids in the top part of my uterus..one in the front and one in the back..I have two on the bottom..one over my cervix so probably like you skn I will have to have a classic C/S!! And the other monster is located above my bladder..I think that is the one that is close to the placenta so I am hoping at my next u/s the baby would have moved away from it because my belly is huge now!!! Everyone hang in there....I'm 18 weeks tomorrow!

Suzy - May 16th, 2006 9:09 PM

Thanks for the support. I did research and a Z-pack antibiotic is in category B, so it's as safe as they get in terms of antibiotics. I'm not worrying anymore, the infection could have been more dangerous than taking the antibiotics. I'm feeling good. I also have a doctor's appt this Thur to check up on the fibroid and baby. Something is definitely happening inside of me. My hips have hurt these past few days, like they're making room for something which is definitely growing. I'm hoping its the baby and not the fibroid. We'll see on Thursday.
