Brandy, I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine what that was like for you. The way my doc explained it to me is this: Fibroids on the outside of the uterus, while they may cause you pain, will not interfere with the baby growing. Worst case scenerio is it will out grow its own blood supply (called red degeneration) and die... this will cause you a lot of pain, but not affet the baby. The only fibroids that can interfere with the baby are the ones on the inside of the uterus. And not even those are a death sentence. Spayne: my baby always seems to be on one side too, but I think thats just normal baby behavior. We probably feel the movements more on what ever side their legs and butt are. I also wonder if he's not always bunched up on the right side because I sleep on my left. He is maybe just trying to keep from getting smushed! Congrats on hitting 32 weeks. It feels good to be out of the scary zone, doesnt it?

Hi all! Brandy my heart goes to you, I'm so sorry for your loss. I agree with skn331 that outer growing fibroids most likely won't cause any harm to the baby. Fibroid does carry its risks, but myo does too. I don't know if your RE thinks that effect of fibroid can be enhanced because of your clotting disorder. It is really hard to choose among different dr. opinions. Stacey - I think that babies just find themselves position they like. My fibroid is down low 8cm so my baby is on the top of it and it should not influence what side he prefers, but he is kickig me only on the right side, top or down, only on right side. Skn331- You must be excited, I have two and half months to go and alredy can't wait. Good Luck

Hi all, Brandy thats really, really sad loosing a baby at 7 months. I hope they get the clotting problem sorted since they figured that was the cause. I pray you'll be fine next time. I have a fibroid on the outside of my uterus but its not pedunculated. I've been told over again that it shouldnt affect pregnancy but i hav a m/c at 15 weeks last year with no other cause found. I opted not to have surgery though and i'm now over 19 weeks and counting and praying. I undestand pedunculated fibroids are easier to remove at surgery but remember that they were not the cause of your problem in the 1st place. Good luck. Quick question for everyone. Hi all. Thanks so much for your responses. I think we have pretty much decided against the surgery but we’ll get one more opinion from another doctor. I’m just anxious to ttc again and hopefully put all of this behind me. Best of luck to you all!

Brandy, I am glad that you are getting another opinion. I have heard the same thing as everyone else, the higher risk fibroids are the one in the uterus, and only about 5% of women with fibroids have uterine fibroids. I have a uterine fibroid, rouhgly the size of an odd shaped baseball. My husband and I did not announce our pregnancy until a few weeks ago. I am now 18 weeks. Even though I have a uterine fibroid, so far so good. It has not grown much since I got pregnant. We're keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

rowena: I dont remember where I felt him kick at 19 weeks (that was the first week I could feel him!) but now I feel him right smack in the middle of my stomache and sometimes off the the right. I think he is head down now so all the bladder huts are coming from the hands and arms. Its such a funny feeling to all of a sudden need to pee RIGHT NOW! and then it passes.

I had my amnio this morning (btw if you ever have to have one its no big deal at all) and it showed the baby's lungs are NOT mature. I have to wait ten more days and do the amnio again. I am so upset. I know I am still having a baby, I just feel like everything was building up until tomorrow and now... its such a let down. Of course I want him healthy....sigh. I cooked a sweet potatoe in the microwave for lunch and it came out hard in the middle. I started crying again.... I cant even cook lunch all the way through!! How can I expect to grow a baby? Good news is the fibroids have indeed moved up and I will be able to have the bikini insicion for delivery.

Skn 331, Your feelings are understandable. Being pregnant is stressful, but then you add all these complications and the stress sometimes seems unbearable. You were ready to have the baby and move on to feeling the joy of being a mommy, and now it's on hold again. You're right, good news is you're still having the baby, you just have to wait a bit longer. I guess the baby just wants you to have more time to rest. I hope you don't spend too much time stressing, and that you enjoy some quiet time (and hopefully sleep), before baby arrives.

Oh, skn331 hang in there. You are growing a baby, a perfect baby. He just want to stay in mommys tummy a little longer. It is so nice and cozy in there. I know you can't wait to meet him and the disapointemt of waiting again can be overwhelming. But remember all the hurdles you had to jump over to get you where you are now, remember that you waited for years for this, what is 10 more days compared to 12 years of strugle. Take care, you are almost there.

skn331, how are you? How is everybody? On my last appt, dr said that she can't tell if fibroid is moving up or not, so I have U/S scheduled for Aug.4 and we'll see.

I am good. I had an appt on Monday with my doc and he said that the "long test" for lung maturity showed that whatever they are looking for was considered boderline (that test was on July 6th) and that 10 days should definately do it. I dont have to do the amnio again and get to have my baby MONDAY!!!! Thats the 17th :) I should be at the hospital minimum 2 days, maximum 4... depending on our needs and wants. I'll let you know when I get home. Lelaini, you are about 30 weeks now, right? Did you have a biophysical u/s to check the size of the baby yet? I thought I remembered you saying you were going to have one closer to 30 weeks. Or is that what they are going to do on Aug 4th? How is everytone else doing?

Hi Ladies, I'm juse surching for some information. I a not pregnant yet, soon I hope. I too have a fibroid it is not located in the cavity of the uterus but under the lining. I have been told by my obgyn not to worry about it. I am now seeing a RE for infertility and suggest that I have it removed by surgery, after saying him self that it should not be a problem. My husband does not want me to have the surgery and I'm a little worred my self. My question to you all is, does any or any one you know that had a fibroid located in that location and became pregnant and gave birth to a healthy baby? We are over 35 and don't have much time to wate but don't want to jump into surgery eather, although we have been trying for about 3 1/2 yrs with one early loss. Thank you all for reading my post.

Congrats skn331, how exciting. Rowena, I am also about 22 weeks. So far so good for me too. I'm just wondering, are you scheduled for any more ultrasounds? I had the "big one" where they checked to make sure all the baby's structures are alright, but I saw the doctor yesterday and she says no more ultrasounds, that now it'll just be monitoring the heartbeat via doppler. I'm not sure if it's just my HMO or if this is standard practice.
Dehhogan, from everything I've read fibroids are case to case situations. Whether you need surgery depends on the location, size, etc. The surgery which is used to take out the fibroid can cause a lot of scarring and the scarring can make it difficult to get pregnant. I also learned that there is a less invasive procedure to shrink the fibroid UFE, but it also carries risks. It's a difficult decision, but I would definitely get a second (maybe third) opinion from someone with a lot of experience. Good luck.

dehhogan: There are plenty of women on this forum who have fibroids and are successfully pregnant. I am one of them. I DID have the surgery to remove some (I originally had 6 or 7) but by the time I got pregnant 4 had come back. I would definately get a second opinion before the surgery. Part of my surgery was also to repair a misshaped uterus or I may not have had the fibroids taken out right away. Good luck though. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.
