Hi :) The baby is doing great. He is such a good baby. I get some sleep, not alot though. Last night I went to bed at 8:30 and left the baby with dad. They came to wake me up for feedings, but other than that they stayed downstairs. It was very nice. AND the baby let us sleep for 4 hours in a row last night as well. That was a first. I had a minor meltdown yesterday after I went to my OB for PPD. He gave me wellbutrin to take and when I got home I took it and then called the pediatrician to see what they thought about the drug and breastfeeding. The nirse was HORRIBLE. She said absolutely I couldnt take it, I needed to stop breastfeeding immediately since I already took one dose and when I started crying all she had to say was "Well your baby had 2 weeks of breastmilk, thats more then some." I ended up hanging up on her because I couldnt stop crying. She eventually called me back and said she had talked to someone else and that one dose wouldnt hurt the baby to keep breastfeeding and if I switched to Zoloft that I could breastfeed safely. So I called my OB back, told him what she said and he switched the prescription. I know you guys dont need to hear that story, But that mean old nurse pissed me off and I wanted to share. Lelaini, let us know about the U/s on Friday. They were right on about Simon's size. You're getting so close! You'll have to come over to the infant care forum. Are you going to breastfeed?

Bailey2786 - August 3rd, 2006 7:54 PM

I am going to ask him about all of this.... I m almost 20 I didn't think that its that comon the have them at this early age

Hi everyone..Skn I'm sorry that nurse was soo mean to you. I don't understand why some nurses are so mean.. I think a lot of people in the health profession forget the "human" part of the job. Some of them act like you are a robot and they can just say anything without taking the time to fist think about how they are going to say it or how it may come across. I'm happy all is well with you, your baby, and your hubby. Keep us posted.

skn331 - August 3rd, 2006 10:12 PM

Bailey, I'm sorry your doc isn't explaining things to you. Maybe he doesnt know much about fibroids. I'd suggest finding another doc who has experience with them. Most of the time they dont cause MAJOR problems, but occasionally they do. It depends on what type of fibroid it is, the location and the size. It seems like some doc blow them off as not causing problems but you need a doc that will take it seriously if your fibroid starts to cause you pain or complications. There is a TON of info on the internet ( I am sure you have already looked) so you can arm yourself with information when you talk to your doc. Good luck, keep us posted.

Bailey2786 - August 3rd, 2006 11:09 PM

thanks!!!! I dunno he was just like we will talk about it later on.... ugh I know its on my left side of the uterus... b/c I saw it in the ultra sound... hopefully everything goes well.... my husband is in iraq :( so its hard dealing with all this on my own... don't really know alot about it so ...... do you know if it causes lower back pain?!?!??! B/c my back has been hurting soooooo bad throughout my pg and never seems to let up.. he says it might just be a pintched nerve, but.... I dunnon I asked him if it could be a sign of preterm labor.... he said prob not.. just normal in pg.. but i dunno

Hi everyone!

I just came back form U/S and I’m so happy. The baby is fine. He is 4lb 7oz and that is just right for his due date (Sep 25). I was afraid that he may have issues gaining enough weight because of fibroid, but he is just fine. He is head down which is good too. Fibroid grew again since U/S at 20weeks and now it is 10.3cm X 8cm. Huge. But the good news is that it moved to the right, so it is not in the way any more. I think that that still means C-section because of the size of fibroid, but I will probably get bikini cut and my risk of bleeding and hysterectomy goes down significantly. I’ll see my dr next Thu. and I’ll now for sure then. I’ll keep you posted. Skn331, I’m so happy to hear that Simon is doing good. And the horror story with nurse, just horrible. I would cry too. I guess I’ll start visiting Infant care forum soon. To answer your question, I would like to breastfeed and I’m ready to put a lot of work into it. I will teach him to take a bottle too since I have to return to work in 12 weeks, but I’ll try to pump so he gets as much of my milk as possible. Bailey, I’m sorry you have to deal with fibroids too. I think that your doctor should of explained what does it mean and give you more info. You may have absolutely no issues and you may have a tons of issues and you need a more caring doctor. My advice would be try to read about them as much as you can so you can ask questions, and finding out the type, number and size are good first questions. Take care

I have been reading this post for about 6 months and it has been a real inspiration for me. It feels so good to know that there are other women going through the same thing I am going through right now. Back in 2003, I had a fibroid removed, because I was lead to believe that was the only way I would be able to have a child. Needless to say the fibroid is back and now I am married, a little over a year, but we are ready to have a child. I went to a speacialist on Thursday and was told that I should have another surgery. I do not want another surgery, because I am so afraid. Me and my husband are doing a lot of praying, because I want to make the right decision. But the more I have been reading, the more I see that doctors would prefer that you have surgery. I want to try everything to not have to have another surgery. I think me and my husband will start trying today:-)

Hi everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. Leilani congrats on the great news. Hi sbj, sorry to hear about your fibroid growing back. Since you went to a specialist did he say why you should do another surgery? They don't always recommend to have the surgery because fibroids depending on location and size don't always complicate a pregnancy. Does he have your medical file, he/she may have info that you aren't aware of like maybe the fibroid is in a location that may make it grow fast and large when pregnant. I am not trying to scare you are want you to worry I just want you to make sure you know why he wants you to do another surgery. I understand your fears about doing the surgery. I am right there with you. I will be doing a myomectomy to remove 4 large fibroids or more if they find them. I am looking forward to doing the surgery and having some hope again of having a baby but I am worried about everything going good. So please make sure your doc explains everything to you and get a second opinion also. Sometimes they don't explain if you don't ask them why. Best of luck to you. Everyone take care.

Thanks skn, thanks Leilani. The pain has dissipated completely. Each day for the 4 days, the pain reduced-now completely. I have another sonogram in 2wks to measure the baby, uterus, fibroid. I'm hoping to find out the sex by 16wks, hopefully I'll find out. sjb, just keep an eye out on the growth. It can become large during pregnancy as you can see. Good luck Joker with the surgery. I hope all works out!

Hi!
Well I promised and update, so here it is. I'm freaking out because Dr told me that vaginal delivery would be the best thing to do since fibroid moved. So after 8 months of her saying that I'll have to have C-sec because baby can't get out and fibroid is to big for safe vag. delivery, now all of the suden it is best thing to do. Don't get me wrong I would love to have normal vag. delivery, but I'm afradid that I'll end up on emerg. c-sec. The fibroid is huge, what if the baby can't get through, what if he gets stuck, what if uterus can't contract as usully because of fibroid. I don't care that c-sec has bigger risks for me. I just want the baby out safe, and now all of the sudden I'm not trusting my Dr. I have another U/S in two weeks to confirm. I don't know if maybe I should ask for second opinion. I'm completly out of my mind.
Leilani

Joker - August 11th, 2006 4:09 PM

Hi everyone. Leilani congrats on the vaginal delivery. Get a 2nd opinion if you feel that is best for you. No harm in getting one, ask your doctor to do a consult with one or a few other docs and get their opinions on what would be best. Congrats again that everything is going great.

skn331 - August 12th, 2006 8:39 PM

OH lelaini!! I cant imagine thinking for the whole pregnancy that I was having a c-section and then at the end getting hit with a vaginal devlivery. It seems like the mental prep work is so different for either delivery route. I cant imagine! I'll have to say I will be jealous if you get to have her vaginally, but by the time you are done, you may be jealous of me!

Leilani14 - August 14th, 2006 7:59 AM

Hi! Thanks for support. Well I'm back to reading pregnancy books, the chapter about vaginal delivery. I'm still confused and I realty need another doctor to confirm that vaginal delivery is the best way to go. At this point I'd deliver him three times vaginaly without any pain meds and three times with c-sec just to have him safely. I'll keep you posted.

spayne12 - August 16th, 2006 11:22 AM

I just wanted to tell you want my doc said about the preference on delivery with fibroids. They said to me the reasons for wanting you to deliver vaginally is to minizmize risk to you and baby. Mostly you because you have a higher chance of infection and hemmoraging at the firoid sites when going c section. I went through the same thing and then since the baby got into position they said vaginal delivery. I was all set with a csection perfectly round headed child, but the recovery time could be so painful it was almost not worth it. I ws worried about the same thing what if the baby got stuck on the fibroids on the way out then they said an emer c but everything should be fine. I said nothing about this fibroids and pregnancy was normal doctor agreed. I can tell you during a later ultrasuond they found 7 fibroids total and said I could have smaller ones so that is why a c would be dangerous because they have to try and avoid all these...

Leilani14 - August 18th, 2006 12:18 PM

Hi guys! Here is another update on me. Well I was so upset the last few days. I figured that it bothered me the most that my dr just told me that vaginaly is what she wants to do and didn't take any time to explain to me why. I so wanted to hear another opinion because I wanted to understand how it all changed and I wanted a reasurance that my baby will be safe. Maybe it's hormones. So I got another opinion and decided to switch doctors. My new dr has 35 years of experience and he spend so much time with me explaning so many things. What it comes to is that my dr was not wrong, that baby is in good position, but he is still not sure if it should be vaginal or c-sec. He showed me that baby's head is really passed the fibroid, so I felt it with my own hands. But it will depend on baby's size and if fibroid is in any way attached to placenta. He claims that it is too soon to decide and that I probably wont know until about 38 weeks. The best thing is that he is with hospital and that I can page him at any time, day or night and no matter when I go into labour I will be able to contact him. And I think when you mey need to make decisions on a fly, experience is the best thing to have. And I figured that that is really important in my case. So that's it for now, I have a new doctor.
