Hi guys! Here is another update on me. Well I was so upset the last few days. I figured that it bothered me the most that my dr just told me that vaginaly is what she wants to do and didn't take any time to explain to me why. I so wanted to hear another opinion because I wanted to understand how it all changed and I wanted a reasurance that my baby will be safe. Maybe it's hormones. So I got another opinion and decided to switch doctors. My new dr has 35 years of experience and he spend so much time with me explaning so many things. What it comes to is that my dr was not wrong, that baby is in good position, but he is still not sure if it should be vaginal or c-sec. He showed me that baby's head is really passed the fibroid, so I felt it with my own hands. But it will depend on baby's size and if fibroid is in any way attached to placenta. He claims that it is too soon to decide and that I probably wont know until about 38 weeks. The best thing is that he is with hospital and that I can page him at any time, day or night and no matter when I go into labour I will be able to contact him. And I think when you mey need to make decisions on a fly, experience is the best thing to have. And I figured that that is really important in my case. So that's it for now, I have a new doctor.

Its confusing about the whole which is better for you and for baby. I am still concerned about what was right for both of us. I am afraid that a vaginal delivery will be complicated, but my doc reassuredme in my situation it was best. she is one of the top docs in my state and the practice is full of great doctors and midwives. I have asked other docs in the practice and they agree with my primary. However, it will always be in back of my head of what is best... I wish you luck...I am 39 weeks and hoping that I can deliver soon...they also said that I was going to be early most likely and they were wrong so far...hehehee

spayne12! Wow 39 weeks! It will be any day now. I think it is great that you have a good phisicyan. I figured that I feel much better now knowing that I have really experienced phisician now and that it almost doesn't matter how I deliver. I can't wait to hear your birth story. Good luck and take care.

Lelaini, you are getting so close, how are you doing?

Leilani14 - August 31st, 2006 10:21 AM

Hi skn! Yes it is getting close. I'll be 37 weeks in four days and officialy full term. The way things are right now the plan is to do vaginal delivery. I'll have another U/S at Sep 11 to make a final decision. For some reason I'm in some kind of la-la land, I don't worry about a thing and I can't wait to have him. How is Simon? How are you? And how is everybody else, haven't heard from people for a while.

skn331 - August 31st, 2006 1:23 PM

Lelaini, I am so excited for you!!! I cant wait to hear your birth story. Simon is good... now. When he was three weeks old he had to have surgery for a pyloric stenosis. The muscle between the stomach and small intestine was too tight and not allowing any food to pass through (or very little anyway). he hadnt gained any weight and was throwing up everything he ate within five minutes of eating it. Since his surgery though, he's been great. He's around 10 pounds now and last night he slept almost 5 hours (for the first time) I am back at work (I do home day care so I get to keep him with me) Dad and I have our first date planned for Saturday night while grandma babysits. How is everyone else? Joker, how are you doing?

Hello all! I haven't been on in awhile but I just wanted to give an update. I gave birth to a full term actually a day late to a baby girl on Aug 25 she weighed in at a whopping 9lb 6oz. I had a total of seven firboids ranging in size the small being 1cm largest at its largest being 9cm. They started degenerating later in my late 2nd trimester early 3rd. The 3rd trimester was beyond the best I had two good months before just baby weight got to me. The only thing about birth I can say with complications is that I had a lot of clotting after giving birth and they had to do more pressing on the belly and checking to make sure I was ok. I did bleed more than I shoudl have but was otherwise ok. I just wanted people to know that even though fibroids in pregnancy can be miserable there is a light at the end of the tunnel and while I was lucky enough to carry to term there is hope for everyone the best thing remain positive and keep yourself educated and find a doctor who knows about firoids!!!

I jus want to start out by sayin this forum is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
I am only 22 years old, this is my first child and the doctor told me I was 6 weeks pregnant a week ago and all at the same time that I have fibroids. to be honest I had never heard of them before, I feel so brand new to this health thing, I always went to the doctor on a regular, but I'm the type jus do what you gotta do to get rid of it i hate descriptions of stuff it turns my tummy.
when I first found out I was pregnant that same day i started bleeding then for the next 3 days I bled. but it was always at the same time around 5 o'clock when i got off work up until the evening, when I woke up when I got up the next morning to take a bath it would be clear but it would start again after I got off. now so far I've been good for the past week i haven't bled or anything. I was really afraid I was having a miscarriage. because I have a fibroid i have to go to the doctor every 2 weeks for the next couple months so my next apt is sept. 12th i'm really excited because the first apt I had i actually got to see the heartbeat.
In the mean time does anyone know what I can do to keep the thing from growing?
I am really glad that there have been so many successful pregnancies with fibroids, I pray everyday and everynight about this and I really hope everything is gonna be okay but with you guys stories I know it will thanks so much.

Angel... Good to see you here. I bled almost every day for the first 7 weeks and then off and on well into the second trimester. Has your doc said what could be causing it? I hope you have a doc experienced with fibroids. Some docs dont think they cause any problems at all... and obviously they do. Let us know after your next appt and hearing the heartbeat... thats the best sound ever.

Hi all, good to hear we're all getting there. I'm almost 30 weeks now....and counting. I'm having to have scans about every month to check baby's growth because they cant measure it correctly due to d fibroids. I'm only now going to start shopping becos i was waiting to move house. Good luck Leilani. Angel-livin life, hang in there!

angel-livin life - September 7th, 2006 6:12 PM

hey skn...thanx for the support, with this being new to me and no one else I know has gone through this before I really don't know what question I should be asking, can you help me? she said the bleeding could have been because of stress with jus finding out or it could have been because of the fibroid. I go back to the doctor next week so i will definetly keep you updated.

Angel: some things that might be helpful to know about your fibroid: What type is it. (there are 3 types depending on location in the muscle tissue.. inside the uterus, these are the most dangerous... inside the wall of the uterus and on the outside wall fo the uterus.) Where it is located in your uterus... top, bottom, close to the cervix.... The placenta growing over a fibroid could be dangerous, but not always. Its good to know if it is though because it might make a difference when they deliver the placenta. It could also interfere with the baby's blood supply. Most of these concerns dont happen to most of us... so dont freak out. Here is a good website to read about fibroids.

Hi girls!

What a week. I’ll try to be short, but so many things happened. Sunday DH was running on a treadmill and about an hour after started to feel dizzy and weak, with high pulse and sweat. He ended up in ER, they monitored him over night for any heart trouble. It turned out he was dehydrated. He is not allowed to exercise until I give birth. The night he was in ER my blood pressure went up to 150/100 so in the morning I called my dr. He told me to come in to get checked, so in the morning I picked up DH from ER and we went to L&D in different hospital. They hooked me up for Non stress test (NST). By morning my blood pressure came down and first measurements were good. The nurse asked me million questions and somehow another nurse came in and everybody got busy. They told me to turn, to take of clothes and put a gown on, they started an IV, and all that time I thought that that is a standard procedure for NST, until an aneshesiologist came and asked me if I ever had spinal. They were prepping me for an emergency c-section. At that point I looked at DH and he explained that baby's HB dropped for a while and they are thinking about c-section. Baby recovered and they decided to monitor me for another 4 hours. Baby behaved so in the end they let me go home. Next day I had U/S that showed that baby is on a smaller side, still within normal range but smaller. He was hitting all milestones by 33 weeks U/S, and he has cord around his neck. On Wed another NST was done and baby looked really good. I have an U/S today again to check amniotic fluid levels. If low I’m having a baby tonight, if OK he may stay in my tummy over the weekend. I’ll be 38 weeks on Mon. I think I’ll have him soon, I have a feeling dr is waiting that 38 weeks mark. Oh yes and fibroid is completely out of the way. It’s been exciting week. I’ll try to keep you posted.

skn331 - September 8th, 2006 1:22 PM

Lelaini, YAY!!!! I am SO excited for you. I cannot wait to hear your story. Simon was born at 37.4 weeks and he was fine. Dont worry if you have to have him tonight! I be impatiently awaiting for your sleep deprived tale. Good luck with everything.
