Just came back from follow up appt. after D&C and very depressed. My doctor told me that since I have large fibroids, they want me to wait for atleast 3 months to see if it shrinks. After that they will do a hysterscopy and then a myomectomy. So basically I can't think of baby for another 6 months. Feeling very depressed. does it really shrink in 3 months? let me know.

Thanks,

Yes I have fibroids. I had to have a myomectomy 2yrs ago because I had a large fibroid on the outside of my uterus that was attached to a cyst on my ovary casuing be pain. The surgery was hell but I'm feeling ok now. I was preg. 2 months ago and had a missed miscarrage but my doctor said it had nothing to do with my fibroids. Fibroids don't really interfer with preg. They may grow and get bigger due to the hormones but usually move out of the was when preg. Books say people with fibroids are at a slightly higher risk for miscarrage. I wouldn't be worried if your fibroids don't bother you your suppose to just leave them alone. Hope this helps.

Thanks Blake. I have never ever had any problems due to fibroids. I found out about this only during preganancy which I miscarried due to blighted ovum. Even though my Dr. says its may not be becoz of fibroids, she still wants to remove them surgically as the fibroids are huge.

Hoping evertything turns out fine.

I am now 11wks 4day prego with fibroids.on April 20th i experienced some pelvic pressure and called my doctor. i went in to see him the next day and the baby's heartbeat was fine at 164 and it's size is 12 weeks 4 days. However the same night I experienced some pretty severe pelvic pain with a little light bleeding. I called the doctor that night and he told me that the fibroids are probably degenerating and that's what is causing the pain and the bleeding. However, he said if the bleeding continues or is constant I should go to the ER. Anyway, I woke up the next morning and the bleeding had stopped but the pain was still there. Today, I've decided to go to the ER because I want to know what's going inside. Please pray for me and I'll keep you guys posted when I get back. Thanks!

good luck carol....thoughts with you...keep us posted.....i am 15 weeks with a big fibroid...had a bit of bleeding/cramping today.........

Carol - April 25th, 2005 8:43 AM

Hi Jess, ER did a sonogram and everything is fine with the baby. They told me to drink plenty of water and take 2 tylenols every 4 hours because that will help with the pain. They also did a pap smear and found brown blood in the cervix which is from the fibroid. I'm happy to say it's Monday morning and I feel good. No more spotting but I have the occasional cramping. Thanks for responding.

I'm sorry to hear about your pain, Carol! I'm glad the baby's ok, though. Did they ever say whether or not the fibroids usually degenerate? Do I have that to look forward to with mine? At least I know from your experience that if I start bleeding and having pain, it doesn't necessarily mean somethings wrong... Keep us posted! :)

Carol - April 25th, 2005 11:43 AM

Yes the fibroids can usually degenerate or twist, either one causes pain. On the other hand, you may or may not have pain it depends on how big your fibriods are and where they are located. The big one is located in my left pelvic area, very low down. I knew that it would cause me some discomfort during the pregnancy, but I didn't know that they could bleed causing me to spot. That's when I started to freak out a little.

D - April 25th, 2005 4:50 PM

Mine is located low down also. My doc is checking the size of it at my May 19 appointment to see if its grown... Hopefully not!

Carol - April 25th, 2005 10:38 PM

I hope yours doesn't grow any larger either. I have an appt to see my dr.on May 4th and I'll ask him more about this degenerating thing when I see him. Like I said, what happened to me may not happen to you, so don't start worrying. We'll encourage each other.

Thanks! I'm not worrying a whole lot, and trying to worry less. Mostly I like to be a little prepared, though. So far, so good, I guess! I'm not sure, but I think I might have felt baby movement last night, so I'm kinda excited about that!

Carol - April 26th, 2005 11:06 AM

That's GREAT! What did it feel like? I know that eveyone is different.

jess - April 26th, 2005 3:35 PM

i just had some spotting and cramping, am now 15 weeks..dr says evil fibroid could be grwing.....or degenerating..........but babe is ok..........yay.........

D - April 26th, 2005 4:46 PM

Well, I wish I was sure I wasn't imagining feeling the baby. My husband put his hand on my belly during the night (I told him about a lady on here who told her husband she'd just felt the baby move, and he said he'd been feeling it for a week while she was asleep - my husband thought that was terribly funny! I think he's got a new role model...), and right after that, I felt this little push an inch or two above his hand - near the top of my uterus -, almost a like a little spot on the side of my uterus was stretching. I guess it could have been a gas bubble, but I don't usually feel them so high up!

jess - April 26th, 2005 5:46 PM

i'v e had that too D!!! I think it is babykins...i felt like a rolling rumbling feeling....right by my belly button....

D - April 26th, 2005 5:55 PM

yeah, since the top of my uterus is under my belly button, that is about the same spot for both of us...
