I am 11.5 weeks pregnant and I too have a fibroid that is the size of my fist. I knew I had the fibroid and was planning on having it removed when I found out I was pregnant. Apparently it sits low on the left side of my uterus and I have been spotting. I began spotting July 4th off and on through the 9th and I thought I was finished and it started up again on Friday. Is anyone else having these problems? It is quite un-nerving. I see the doc tor Tues. Thanks.

Hello, Girls-Hope all is well. I have had 2 Myo's (July 2001 & Oct 2006) and a Lap in May 2007 to remove Fibroids. Got pregnant in late May. Took hormones and the buggers grew back. I have one big one and 4 smaller ones. I am preggo with twins. Just made it into the second trimester... My doctor says that the fibroids may take up too much space from the babies and cause problems or they may degenerate and cause pain. I am some what nervous about this. I heard of so many women who went on to give birth without any problems. Pls, share your experiences and are give advice. Is there anything I can change or something I can do to slow the growth? My doctor says no.

I just found out I have two fibroids and I am two months pregnant. I have been bleeding everyday.

spayne12 - March 30th, 2008 6:28 PM

Vernice, I was pregnant in 2006. It was around my second month when I started having issues with my fibroids. I started spotting and having pain which is totally undescribabl if you ask me. It kinda feels like your bloated, gassy, and heavy down in your uterus. I gave birth to a beautful baby girl in August of 2006. The road was shakey and some days were worse than others, but i can say it gets better. My best days were the last few weeks of my second trimester and into the 3rd! I know its a long way away, but you will get there. Post questions as this board helped me out greatly during this time. Also, I had a TON of fibroids during my pregnancy. I had over 5 at one ponit with two fairly large ones. I can tell you the doctors didn't make a huge deal about with them other than telling me it wasn't anything to worry about. however, they realized that i was in pain and reassured me every step of the way. i hope your doctor does the same thing.

Hi Vernice. I am in a similiar situation. I'm just about 7 weeks pregnant. I've been spotting for a week. I called our nurses' hotline on Thursday. She said unless I get a fever, back pain, shoulder pain, or the bleeding increases, I should just rest. She also said nothing should enter the vagina until the bleeding stops. So I tried. Friday night, the spotting got much worse, so we went to the ER. The first resident said this is typical during the first trimester and he'll probably just send me home, but he had to check with his supervisor. They ended up taking a lot of blood (my hcg level is great!) and doing an internal exam (cervix is closed and they can't find any masses indicating an ectopic pregnancy!). I went for an ultrasound on Monday. My fibroid (in the wall of my uterus) is now 11 cm and is on the left side toward the bottom. The baby is on the right side and measures the correct size (6w4d yesterday). I even think I might have seen its heart beat, but I'm not sure. The radiologist saw no signs of bleeding - she thought given the size and position of the fibroid, it was the most likely cause of the bleeding. So I'm told to sit tight and watch for the symptoms the first nurse told me about. The spotting won't stop. Pain comes and goes but isn't that bad. I should say that the ultrasound has really made me attached to the baby and I'm now even more scared of a m/c. I'm really hoping things don't get worse. How's your bleeding doing? Would you like to ride out the bleeding together? I pray all goes well for you!

Thank you all for these posts. You have really helped me. I thought I'd share my story and ask some questions. 2 years ago my GP found a mass. Fibroids are common in my family so I was pretty sure that is what would be found. It took 5 months to get an US for diagnosis, and my DH was freaking out, so during those 5 months, I found an OB/Gyn. He confirmed through a physical exam that it was most likely a fibroid. He let one woman keep her fibroid and she died of cancer, so he wants everyone with fibroids to get hysterectomies. He was so mean and had no bedside manner. I know he can't do this, but it really seemed he was going to reach in there and pull out my uterus! I told him we wanted kids and he said we wouldn't be able to, but we should try right then and there or it would never work! The only good thing he did was get my US moved up to the next day. The US showed an 8 cm fibroid in the wall of my uterus. I had no symptoms other than a belly bulge. I looked like I was just starting to show no matter how much weight I lost. We found another OB/Gyn. He said not to do anything since I had no symptoms and we should TTC when we were ready, no rush. He's great! Now I'm just about 7 weeks pregnant. The fibroid is now 11 cm and I'm spotting all the time. Has anyone else experienced this? Was your outcome ok? Also, I can't fit into my pants. Before I got pregnant my uterus was the size of 15 weeks. Now I look very pregnant. Has anyone else gone through this? Should I get maternity pants? Thanks all for your help.

Hello everyone, I had a miscarriage in 2005 due to fibroid tumors destorting my uterus. After three years of trying off and on, I decided to go to an infertility doctor. She wants me to try 100mg Clomid on days 5-9. I start Nov. 1, 08. I am so afraid that the fibroids will cause another miscarriage. Has anyone experienced this?

FinallyPreggers - October 30th, 2008 4:29 PM

Hi Denice35, I am very sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I hope it won't happen again. A lot of these women have now moved on to the 'Pregnancy after myomectomey' posts, so they might be able to help you there. My spotting eventually went away. Then at 13.5 weeks I was hospitalized because the fibroid was causing me so much pain. When I got out, I was on painkillers and going to physio. Then finally as the third trimester hit, baby crawled around the fibroid so it stopped pushing on things and the pain stopped. I'm at 37 weeks today which is full term!!! No one thought I'd make it this far. And, since baby is head down right by my cervix, they are letting me go ahead with a vaginal birth! Thankfully I've never experienced a miscarriage. I just wanted you to know that things can work out with the fibroid. Things can also go horribly wrong. If I had read all these stories before getting pregnant, I might have gotten a myo. Have you asked your doctor? Good luck with your decision and please let us know how it goes if you'd like.

Denice35 - October 30th, 2008 5:13 PM

FinallyPreggers- Wow that's great news. It's nice to know that you will give birth vaginally. So many women with fibroids don't have that option. Thanks for sharing your story. Good luck

Hello ladies, I have started a post called Trying Clomid with Fibroid Tumors. If you can relate to this post please come join me. Thanks

I am only six weeks pregnant and just found out i have two fibroids. The doctor put me on bed rest for five days because i am having light spotting. Has anyone else had spotting? If i am on light bed rest can I still do simple things like take the dog for a walk? Because i have fibroids am i most likely to have a miscarriage? This is my first pregnancy and I never knew i had these fibroids, so i am freaking out. Any good advice?

Rey - February 12th, 2009 7:30 PM

Hi, I'm 17wks preg with 7 fabroids. the largest is 7cm and the other are much smaller. for the past 2days have have been feeling a little pain and discomfort in my lower abd and back. is there anything we could take to help easy the pain and discomfort?

FinallyPreggers - February 14th, 2009 8:47 PM

jihl30, sorry it has taken so long to respond. How are you doing? I spotted, starting at 6 weeks. My fibroid grew from 7 cm to 14cm x 14 cm during my pregnancy. My 2.5 month old son is sitting in my lap now and he's doing great! Rey, pain should be taken seriously. It could lead to a mc. Please talk to your OB. I took a lot of tylenol during my pregnancy.
