Fibroids

Hello, it’s me Sylvia. I’d like to update that I’m 18 wks and doing fine. I did have the myomectomy and they took out 8 fibroids. I was scared that I couldn’t get pregnant, but I was lucky enough to do so. I do say that your periods do get a lot lighter as if you were taking the pill. My surgery was like a c-section, but I was out for the count. I do have a scar, but it’s in the bikini line. You can’t see it unless you shave or wax everything downstairs. This time around, I did not go through any pelvic pain like the last pregnancy with my son (may God bless his little soul in heaven). The only pains I get now are lower back pain and in my hips. At the time, for the pain, they gave me Tylenol with codeine. I was out of work for 2 weeks. I know the pain that you are feeling when they degenerate. I felt better within 10 days. I talked to my doctor and she told me that she couldn’t see why I could deliver my baby vaginal. If complications do occur, like if I don’t dilate or the baby’s heartbeat or blood pressure drops, then I could be going into having a c-section. At least I’ll know how the recovery will be. The first 4-5 days, it’s a witch to get out of bed. I suggest turning and lying on your side and pushing yourself up with your arms. DO NOT TRY TO USE YOUR STOMACH MUSCLES and try to sit up from the lying position. After that walking around for me wasn’t that bad. My doctor told me not to baby myself. Try to walk around little by little and not to be laying or sitting down for the whole 8 wks I was out. I know all this information that is out there about fibroids and it says that they don’t cause miscarriages and still births, but you have to look carefully. I know it get tiring, but I did find some info after I lost my son to stay off my feet and relax. It also mention that it was a possibly to miscarry. Anything can happen, as you see with me, I lost my son at 21 wks. He was considered a still born, not a miscarried. I’m not trying to scar anyone, but do be careful anything can happen. I’m still very scared now, but enjoy my pregnancy because I can feel my baby move. With my previous pregnancy with the fibroids, I couldn’t tell if my baby was moving or the fibroids were. I just pray to God to let me deliver a healthy baby for my husband and I to give lots of love too!! |

Sylvia- I'm sorry to hear about your son. If you don't mind me asking what happened. Was it because of the fibroids and where were they located. I only have one huge one and this was not a planned pregnancy. I just feel so bad putting this baby at risk. I have three beautiful children. They are so looking forward to a new baby brother or sister. I know it is all in God's hands and He will take care of me and this baby. I will keep you in my prayers with your new baby. God Bless! |

sylvia- my heart goes out to you for your son, stay positive- Mindy as u probably read i am a very similar boat as you- my fibroid started at 12 cm- has grown to 15 while being pregnant.....fibroid is on the bottom right and my fiesty little boy is high up on the left, i am now 30 weeks 4 days and he is doing just great! he is taking over the uterus and showing the fibroid who's boss!! i was soo scared to, especially in the first trimester, and was quite convinced it wouldn't make it to the second- but here we are! they do say just geting pregnant can be a challenge with big fibroids, and if your little one has attached far enough away than he/she could do just fine- and it sounds like u have a smarty in there!! |

Thanks Jess for encouraging me. I'm looking forward to being 30wks. Did you pop out quick? I am showing like I am 4 months pregnant. My other pregnancies were so easy and so far this one has been a little rocky with the hematoma. I am just not going to take anything for granted. I'm on bed rest for this week so it will heal. I wish the fibroid would heal and go away too (wishful thinking). Keep me in your prayers and I will do the same for you. God Bless our little Blessing!! |

Mindy, Well there was a 12cm fibroid inside my uterus next to my baby. I guess my baby lost the figth and the fibroid won that battle, but I took those suckers out when I had surgery. Just keep faith and anything that doesn't feel normal, call your doctor. If you still don't feel right, go to the ER. Thank you for your prayer and Congrats for the new little one on the way. |

Jess. I am now 29wks pregnant with two big fibroids which block my cevix like yours. The left one is 14cm and the right one is 17cm from the last ultrasound. I also have few smaller one (2-3cm) attached around inside uterus too. I am petite (5' tall) and my baby locates sideway and upper my uterus. Like you said, my doctor has mentioned that it was impossible for me to get p/g and to carry a baby. So far, I am doing ok, my uterus was measured 6 weeks ahead. My baby from my last ultrasound at 27 weeks was 2lb 1oz, which is right on track. I have a lot of discomfort and feel very heavy all the time. I am still working and planning to stop at 33 wks. I am wearing the p/g bell that uses my back to lift and support my belly a little bit. My doctor has said that she hope can carry it to 36 wks. I hope too. From last week, I will have to see my dr every week. And every two weeks, I will have an ultrasound and 1/2hour to monitor the heat beat and contraction. I will keep updating my status. Good luck to all! |

Jess. I just got back from an ultrasound. My little girl is doing ok, her weight is still right on track. And my fibroids still keep growing... I had myomectomy two years ago to remove about 20 fibroids which were small but bothered me a lot. Since then, my uterus is very weak. Next week, we will schedule for the amino test and classic C-section at the week 36th. Amino test will define if baby's lung is mature or not. If not, steroid shot needs to have for me before the C-section. Anything you think I should consider here, let me know. Tks! |

Jess, I did end of miscarrying. The 4cm subchorionic hematoma (blood clot under the placenta)detached the baby. I had no warning at all, no pain or cramps just the bleed that they told me was so normal from that stupid hematoma. I fell so sick thinking about it because my baby was doing fine two weeks ago. I just can't stop crying. I am going to have that fibroid taking out even though it didn't seem to hurt the pregnancy. I am just so emotional drained right now. I'm not sure I want to be pregnant again. Just pray for me. |

oh mindy mindy- my heart goes out to you, you r in my thoughts and prayers, i am so sorry. Get lots of opinions about removing the fibroid-it can cause scar tissue, and may make conception challenging, but if you have a good dr then it can be fine- just do whats best for you.........stay positive- it Can happen, remember that... |

Hi, I have been reading through all the posts about fibroids. These dyas I am deciding about to remove my 7 cm, low line at the cervix. A couple of weeks back I lost my little son at 22 nd week. I am still in shock. I got severe pelvic pains and had a sponatneous expulsion. My son looked like an angel and was born alive but couldn't survive to live. Before that I have had pelvic pains and bleeding at week 14. I would say to all those who have fibroids and are pregnant to be very very careful with pregnacy. Fibroids do cause miscarrages, although books say it is rare, they also cause pain and the baby to be in distress. If you feel less movement of baby , don't wait to go to doctor and see if anything is wrong. I wish to get my mymectomy done soon and then hope to be pregant again. pray for me. |

You guys are scaring me a bit. I'm 47 and pregnant for the sixth time. I had an ultrasound a few weeks ago (I'm currently 15 weeks pregnant), and found out I had 3 fibroids (the largest one, at that time, as about an inch). I don't know if it'll cause problems, but after reading some of these posts I'm getting creeped out. I thought more babies, than not, survived fibroids. Does anyone know? Mine are at the top of my uterus, but so is the placenta. Reassurance right now would be really nice. So far, everything's good, but this "sudden" stuff that you ladies have experienced is scary and very sad. I'm sorry for your losses, and pray that God will help you through this. |

Jess - yes, due to myometomy procedure to remove a lot of fibroids, my uterus is very week. I had a lot of cramping during the week of 16-20. So my doctor decide to give me a progestrone shot very week since then to relax my uterus. These shots have definitely been helping my uterus calm down a lot. When I get p/g, my fibroids are growing back and the estimation is about more than 4lbs total of 2 big fibroids which they are block my cevix. I still have few little ones around. With all these complications, I have to schedule for a classic c-section at 36th week (I pray that I can go to that far). My belly looks like it's ready to pop out any time. It's big, heavy and very pressure down below. |
