Hey everyone..this is my first pregnancy and I was told this week that my HcG was 3x higher than normal. That detail alone with my age (38) puts me at a 1/12 risk for downs, per the screening. I'm not sure whether to be scared, worried, or just have faith it's all okay. Clearly, I'm worried. At the same token, I've had several ppl tell me they were told their baby had the marker for downs and the baby came back fine. I could do amnio, but that's when I have to do some soul searching to decide if the risk outweighs the benefit. Will it make a difference, and as I understand it, that can even be wrong. Is anyone else going thru this? Oh, and I have a pituitary tumor (which governs your hormones) yet dr tells me it has no effect on HcG...but I read that soem ppl have hi HcG if having multiples or even just because their bodies are different....so, how much emphasis to put on this test result? I've worked sooooo hard to have this baby and may not get another chance according to drs., and really just want it to be perfectly healthy. I go for 2nd u/s and screening in 3 weeks. Anyone else go thru this?
