I have just had my second m/c at 15 1/2 weeks decause of a incompetent cervix, they are going to put a cerlage in at 12 weeks next time, and try to get me to 25 wks. Question, Has anyone m/c so early because of a incompetent cervix and carried to term with a cerclage? the try to get you to 25 wks has me worried.

hey Deem,

I lost my daughter at 18 weeks and 5 days due to an iincompetent cervix, i'm now 19w and 4 days with a cervclage that was put in at 15 weeks... Everything has been going well so far. I have been having some very light brown spotting but I've gotten that checked out and my doc, said its me moving around to much that it is irritating the stitch, so i have been trying to keep it easy... my doc did tell me that If i made it to 34 weeks she will be happy.....I guess cause of the spotting... but once you have the stitch you will be fine.... trust in God and he will provide you with a healthy baby your next time around.

Hi deem & Ricanmami,
I'm sorry for your loss but wish you the best in the future.
I was wondering if you had any spotting during your pregnancy or anything else that may have been a sign of IC? I had a LEEP procedure and at 15 weeks i'm worried that it may have comprimised my cervix. My ultrasound is in 3 weeks and doc says everything is fine, but everything I read out there says you can't be diagnosed until you have had a loss.
Just wondering if there is anything to watch out for? Thanks and God Bless

thaks Tiphanai, there is no way to diagnose an incompotent cervix until you have a loss.... I had no pain no spotting no nothing... until when I went to my 18 week ultrasound to deternine the sex of the baby..they told me i was having a girl, then they measured my cervix and found that i was already 4centimeters dialated and at that point there was nothing that they can do... I can the only real way you can find out is by asking your doc to check your cervix. and to measure it....i had my measured last week and what told it measured at 3.1 which is good... anything above 2.5 is considered normal from what my doc told me.. and i do trust her a lot. i call her for everything....

thanks tiphanai, incompotent cervix are yes hard to diagnose, the missed mine the first time, but somthing you might want to watch for is leaking of clear fluid, I had it both times the doc kept testing for amnoitic fluid, it is not. I had no spotting, no pain, just some clear fluid. best wishes

thanks for the info ladies. As scary as it is, i guess we can just pray and hope for the best. Not having been in your situation i don't know the pain, but where is the sense in losing a child so unexpectedly? I guess God works in mysterious ways and he does everything for a reason. I will continue to pray that we are meant to have successful pregnancies and happy, healthy babies. Best regards.
