Katielou, so sorry to hear about your m/c. I wish you all the best for the future. Sharonl, wow, that's really great that you have someone agreeing with you that there is still hope. I will pray for you. Also, you might want to check out www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com they have wonderful stories of "sure to miscarry" stories that had happy endings. Best of luck and keep us posted.

i spot one day the it stop, the nex day after sex i spot again could i be pregnant?

kathy - February 15th, 2006 1:45 AM

Wish I had some good answers. I have had all the symptoms of being pregnant yet early tests are negative and vaginal ultrasound didn't show anything. After going thru the morning sickness and being so tired, backache , soar breasts and all I now seem to be hungry all the time. Is it still possible that I may be pregnant and they just can't see it...

sharonl - February 15th, 2006 2:54 AM

Patti - thanks for that website, it gave me a bit more hope - Friday still seems a million miles away though, all I can do is hope.
Cynthia - a 'd and c' is where the surgeon dialates your cervix and then gently scrapes out the contents of your womb, this is done under a general - it is done for missed or part miscarriages. The modern version is an ERPOC (Evacuation of Retained Products of Conception) - a similar process but a small rubber tube is passed through the neck of the cervix and then suction is used to empty the womb. Hope this helps.
Carmen - have you done a pregnancy test? Spotting can be as a result of all sorts of things.
Kathy - this sounds really distressing for you. It is possible that yoou just ovulate really late in your cycle but it would be unusual to have all of these symptoms so early - how many weeks do you think you are? Have you started to take a new pill which could give these side-effects. I understand how traumatic the symptoms are when you don't even know if there is a baby as I'm going through this myself. I hope you get some answers.
My sickness and hormone levels are up and down the whole time, I don't have a very good feeling about this. I am so sorry for your loss Katie-Lou, I really empathise with not wanting to go throught the whole thing again. Keep hope though, my dr told me that statistically the chances of having more than one are low, and only 1% of women have three (as I will have had if I lose this one). You will never forget your angel, but time will make it easier.
Love to you all

marranie - February 15th, 2006 7:26 AM

sharoni, hope your appt goes well, even if it doesn't turn out good at least you will have given it every chance. mmmm... statistically only 1% of women have 3 m/c, well even with three, life will go on and i have a good pregnancy at last after 3 m/c in 18 mths. I let all mine go 'natural' with no problems and though offered d&c preferred to wait the 2-3 weeks for things to happen naturally. Taken rather large doses of fish oil for the first 8 weeks this time so i dont know if it has made a difference, read on the net how it can prevent m/c. I certainly have very good skin now as a side effect. Bless you all and take care.

I appreciate all of your stories and information on this site. I had a m/c in October, then found out that I am pregnant again a week and a half ago. We have been trying since July for our first. I started spotting last Tuesday and had hcg levels taken. They were only at 28 and I figured I am having another m/c. Then Friday, hcg was at 37. I have still been spotting for a week now, and have to go back this Friday for a third hcg test. The waiting is killing me. I have read that if your levels are low and are not doubling every 2-3 days, you are doomed to miscarry. I want to be pregnant so badly, but I can't get my hopes up because of my last m/c. I was only at 5 1/2 weeks in Oct. and am almost at 5 1/2 weeks right now. I was having breast tenderness for the 4th week, when spotting started, but they aren't anymore. Has anyone had levels go up after a m/c? My last m/c had hcg levels going down on the first 2 tests, and I didn't get my hopes up like this one.

sharonl - February 16th, 2006 7:38 AM

marranie, what excellent news about your pregnancy - as for letting it go naturally, my body does not want to let go - I am three weeks after diagnosis now with no pain and no bleeding - we will see whether this really is good news after tomorrow.
Beth, I wish you the best of luck with your tests

Beth - February 16th, 2006 7:34 PM

Sharonl, thank you for your good thoughts. I hope you get great news tomorrow, I know how hard it is to wait for something that means so much to you. If you don't get good news, then I hope for your sake that everything takes care of itself quickly so that you don't have to wait anymore. I was also told by my doctor that it is rare to miscarry 3 times, and that if this is my 2nd m/c, then they still don't typically do any investigating until I have 3. I really don't want to go through this again before I can find out what is wrong. He has given me the option of checking into it if my husband and I choose to, but I don't know what is worse, getting probed and poked for the "investigation", or going through another m/c. I didn't experience any cramps with my last one, actually, it was shorter than a regular period.

sarah - February 17th, 2006 12:02 PM

just out of curiosity...does this first doctor perform abortions by chance? sounds like he just wants "abortion" money. they are also notorious for being rough with women.
im so glad you sought a second opinion and your baby was saved from what could have been a horrible mistake.

sharonl - February 17th, 2006 2:04 PM

Well, it was not good news today - the baby hasn't grown and my womb has started to bleed into the pregnancy sack so the pregnancy has failed. I have chosen meidacal treatment rather than an operation so go into hospital on Monday and on Wednesday. Good luck to you all.

Beth - February 17th, 2006 7:10 PM

Sharonl, I am so sorry to hear your news. I wish you the best of luck as you get ready to try again, and fast healing from this. I am still waiting on results, but have had a bit darker spotting than the last week today.

Beth - February 18th, 2006 12:47 PM

Well, I got my results back and they were up to 276 from 37 last Friday. I still don't feel anything different and still have spotting. I am wondering if it is blighted ovum. I am still holding on to hope that this is a healthy pregnancy, but it is so hard with such low numbers. Best of luck to all of you still waiting on news or trying.

Laura - February 21st, 2006 4:56 AM

Your stories are all so reassuring , here is my own! I have a girl of 4 years old and had a D&C 2 years ago. I have been trying to fall pregnant now for 7 months. My LMP was Jan 22nd and I received a positive hCG on January 19th (one day after period was due after getting a negative three days before period was due). Did a hcg test yesterday and it shows 178 at 4 weeks pregnant (15 days post fertilization) I don't know that seems very low to me - I am so hoping that this turns out well - I really want this child. I will repeat the bcg in a weeks time and will update you all!

What is the newest blood thinner on market for antiphosilipid antibody sydrome?? I am allergic to heprin, lovenox and fragment

Beth - February 24th, 2006 8:04 PM

Well, I started heavy blood flow yesterday with tissue and blood clots passing, so I will be trying again in a few months. Best of luck to you all.
