Low HCG Level At 7 Weeks

So the same thing as GREG & Shannon is happening to us right now. I have been having a brown discharge and i had my blood drawn 3 times in the past week, my hcg level is rising but not as high as they would like. Today it was 2,600 and Dr. said it should be 3,200 which is average. She hasn't said that I need a dnc but I can tell that she thinks I might have a miscarriage. My ultrasound is not until Monday morning. What kind of news do you all think I will get on Monday?? Also, I am having no pain what so ever, and the brownish discharge seems to be lighting up. (never heavy in the first place though) Any comments would be appreciated!!! |

JAC- Everyone is so different, it's hard to predict what kind of answer you'll get on Monday. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully you'll see something on the u/s. Good luck, please post your outcome!! |

Hi guys. I am in the same situation and its comforting to know I'm not alone or in the twilight zone. My last menstrual cycle was 9/17 and I went to the doctor on Friday 10/27 b/c of brown bleeding mixed occasionally with red blood. The doctor said it looked like I was having a mc and gave me a rogam shot just in case and a blood test for hcg. During the visit they did an ultrasound but saw no sac nor one f. tube and ovary due to gas. This made me nervous b/c a friend just lost a f. tube after two ectopic pregnancies. On Monday, my hcg level was 176 and I had to get another blood test for comparison along with a progesterone prescription to start immediately. Today I found out my hcg went up to 313 and but I need to go back on Thursday for another blood test. I cried all weekend thinking I've had a mc but now they say it looks like I'm two weeks pregnant. Sadly, that can't be the case b/c my husband and I decided on October 8th to postpone trying again until January and started using condoms. So now, I guess I have low levels and no clue what to do but to sit and wait. Thank you to everyone who has posted on this site. It helps to know I'm not alone or crazy since I've felt that way for 4 days. Thanks again and please keep updating what happened to give future readers some clue what to expect. I know it has helped me more than you can imagine. |

Has anyone ever had HCG levels of 96 at 5 Weeks with a projesteron of 12.6 and had it work out? My Dr. suspects eptopic and if my levels dont go up significantly tomorrow they want to give me a cancer drug to make my body absorb the pregnancy. I had an ultrasound two days ago and I've had some spotting since then but durring the ultra sound they saw nothing they said it was too early. |

if it's really 5 weeks, that's very low. but you could be off on your dates and that would make a huge difference. I your numbers really don't double every 2-3 days, it's definitely not a good sign. I'm sure your doc will follow you closely. They can also see ectopics on u/s after a while. I hope you're just off on your dates. |

Wanted to update my info for any future readers. I, unfortunately, found out on Friday I’ve miscarried and have to have a d&c on Thursday. My hcg levels only went from 313 to 382. My mom put my misfortune in perspective by saying a little bit of heartache now is better than a lifetime of heartache for a unhealthy child. I wish all the luck to everyone on the site. Thanks for all the great information. Good Luck! |

I have been reading these posts and am completely amazed that so many people have similar situations to me. I was suppose to get my period Sept 28th. That day I started spotting and then didn't have anything else until Oct 5th. That day I started bleeding very lightly. On Oct 12th I went through a pad and a tampon in 45 minutes with bright red blood. At that point I called the doctor. I had taken several pregnancy tests that had come back negative so I wasn't really worried about a poss miscarriage. The doctor told me that I had actually miscarried and that they would need to do a D&C. I had been keeping track of my basal body temp and the dr. looked over it. She realized I ovulated later in my cycle than was normal. She scheduled another u/s for the following Mon. That Mon, the u/s tech thought she found a heartbeat. The dr. told me that even a heartbeat was not very positive b/c my hcG levels were dropping. I was sent to a high risk pregnancy specialist that Thursday. That day I heard the sweetest sound I have ever heard. The baby's heartbeat was 149 bpm. The dr told me I have a 50/50 chance of the baby making it which is pretty normal in the first trimester. Now to the point..I am still bleeding every day. When the baby implanted it burst one of my blood vessels. The doctor said that as long as I keep bleeding the old blood, I should be okay even though my hcG levels are dropping. Of course I was still worried about the dropping levels. I am on progesterone. After reading all of these posts, I feel so much better about the dropping levels. So for those of you who are bleeding ask your doctor if you could have ovulated late before you let them do a D&C. Also the burst blood vessel seems to be a very common problem. I hope this helped. I know this is really scary and emotional. It's nice to be able to discuss this with others who are going through this. |

JMRL...I have never heard of a happy ending either. Which is why I feel this situation is unique. However, they told me they were dropping on Oct 23rd (which would be 7 weeks). According to their calculations, I would be approx 9 weeks pregnant at this point. I have another u/s on Thursday and truly pray for a positive outcome. I feel as though this is a miracle baby. I have all of the symptoms. I am nauseous, tender breasts, metalic taste in my mouth, and growing pains. I am hoping the progesterone is helping, but I am VERY nervous. |

I'll say a prayer for you! Miracle baby I'll say! what are your hcg levels? are they still really low? I'm so glad someone has a story where doctors could be wrong... |

JMRL...I do not know what my levels are. The doctor didn't tell me. I was just told that they had dropped. I have not had blood work done since Oct 19th. After reading this site, I am going to ask on Thursday so I have a better idea. Since this is my first pregnancy, I didn't press for the #s b/c I wouldn't know what was low and what was normal. I just know they are suppose to double every 48 hours. I was concerned about the fact that they had dropped. Hopefully the progesterone will help. I am just so glad I kept my BBT b/c that is the only thing that saved me from a D&C a few weeks ago. I told the doctor they had better be 100% sure before they did anything. Before hearing the heartbeat, the doctor told me there was only a 15% chance the baby would make it and it didn't look very good so did I want to go ahead with the D&C anyway to save me heartache down the road. My answer was a very loud no. I wanted to make sure my baby had a chance. My husband and I have been trying for about 5 months and I didn't want to just give up at the first problem. |

Kim, I don't mean to sound negative, but those levels really are low, and even if they are doubling every 3 days that's slow. When I had my blighted ovum last summer I was reading all I could about hcg levels, and found out that the general cut-off point for a viable preg was around 75miu at about 14 dpo. I did hear of a few cases that started off as low as 12 or 15 and made it, but they were doubling quickly and had probably just implanted very late. Even if this one doesn't work out, I really hope for you that the next one will. I am finally 8.4 weeks preg from my 3rd IVF and it looks really good so far except for a blood clot in the placenta. I know how stressful it is when you are doing IVF/IUI to get preg and you wish you could just BD to get preg like everyone esle. I really wish you the best. Please keep in touch! |

Well, I just wanted to update you. This was not a happy ending. I started bleeding yesterday heavier than I have been. We lost the baby. There is no heartbeat and there has been no growth. It is very, very hard to deal with, but at least I know I am not alone. |

Oh Jamie, I am so sorry to hear the bad news. It is such an emotional hurdle to deal with. You are definetly not alone. We lost our baby two weeks ago, due to an eptopic. It is something that even though your body may be physically fine, your heart has a hard time coming to terms with it. It was our first pregnancy too, and we were so excited! A friend of mine who has had a miscarriage a few years ago gave me some wisdom. Now that she has her son, she often thinks that if she had not had her first miscarriage then Ean wouldn't be here. I keep thinking that way...when I do finally have my son or daughter, this period of time won't hurt so much. Keep trying...the soul that was ment for your family will eventually come through! Good Luck! |
