I don't know if i am writing this in the right place or not, so please bear with me. I have read about the problems some women have with numbers not doubling and slight spotting. Doctors are quick to say misscarriage, but has anybody ever asked them about their progestrone level? I tried to concieve for 8 yrs and never could. I finally got pregnant, but the spotting began early on. My numbers were going up, but not doubling like they should. My doctor just happened to check that hormone level and it was low. They put me on a progestrone supplement once a day for the first trimester and I can say I am the proud mother of a 2 yr. old little boy. I have had two more pregnancies since his birth, but they sadly ended in misscarriage. The hormone therepy helped, but this was chromosonal problems. I am now on my fourth healthy pregnancy. I hope this information does help someone out there. I never knew that this could keep me from having a baby. Good luck and best wishes to everyone!!

I have a question, I took a hpt and found out I was preg. on Tuesday. Then sadly on Friday I started having bleeding like I was on my period, so I went to the ER and they would not tell me wether or not I miscarried they said my cervix was closed and my HCG level was a 4 and the doctor said either I am really early in my pregnancy (which would be true my last m/p was 8/27) or I miscarried. So, I just assumed I miscarried, Now, I don't know what to think. Is it possible to have bleeding like that and still be pregnant? PLease help?

carrie re:tiffc - September 3rd, 2005 6:47 PM

hi there, just read your post, its best to wait a few week anyway before you stress about m/c. I lost a baby 7 weeks ago, then got pregnant two weeks after that. I didnt know i was pregnant although i was trying, so when i started bleeding i just thought it was my period although its lasted now about 3.5 weeks but im still pregnant. I had my HCG done wed and Fri and they doubled, so you can still bleed and carry a baby. My bleeding has stopped in the last few hours but it has been solid for the last 3.5 weeks. U/S showed a mass of fluid of some sort last monday so having another one done on Tue. If the numbers are rising though Im hoping its a good thing. My first child was a doddle, dont know what the problem is this time or last time around. So dont worry until at least another 2/3 weeks, youll know more then, hope this helps, ill sprinkle some baby dust for you x x x

I'm about 4-5 weeks and I started spotting on 09/02. Then started bleeding more heavily on 09/03, I went to the ER and they tested my HCG level..it was only at 37. I bled Sunday and then spotting today. I go in for another HCG test tomorrow morning...if it goes up then hopefully my baby will be okay...if not I'm probably loosing it. I'll keep you all posted..thanks for your stories and comments. They've really given me hope.

I posted on this months ago when i first found out I was pregnant. I had heavy bleeding that started a few days after I found out i was pregnant. Very heavy bleeding at first, like a period for a couple of days, then just spotting and then it stopped. I was terrified that I had lost the baby. I am now 16 weeks, have had many ultrasounds, everything is fine. My last ultrasound was about a month ago and the baby was the right size and moving around. I have another one in three weeks. I was sure that the bleeding meant I would lose the baby, but that was not the case. I have since talked to many women who bled quite heavily and they went on to have healthy babies. So try not to worry. I was surprised at how many women bleed during pregnancy. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

I am 4-5 weeks pregnant also. I have had spotting anad some bleeding....brown, pink, red since I found out. Cramping and low back pain too, but nothing really bad. Like period pain. I had my HCG last week, it was 173. Then this week it was 315. my doctor says that is really low and I'm going to miscarry. I don't know what to think. He's going to check again on Friday. Should I be worried about miscarriage/

I have just found this site and not sure if I am posting my message in teh right spot. After 10 years of IVF I conceived our little girl who is now 2 years old. I am currently pregnant again (at least I hope I still am) My hcg levels have doubled and at 6 weeks they are now 17,000 though they seem to have stopped doubling. Today we had an ultrasound for the heartbeat and we completely devastated when the Dr could not find the sac. He talked of possible ectopic miscarrige etc and possiblilty of DNC .We were really distraught and the clinic sent us to see another doctor. He found the sac immediately with his machine. He could not detect a heartbeat but said this is fairly common this early and we should go back on Monday. He did not seem overly concerned that my levels are no longer doubling either but we just feel so traumatised by the whole experience today. Can anyone offer me any hope/advice?

I posted a message a while back and thought i should really update things.
Sadly it did go all wrong for me and i did have a miscarrage in the end.A quick reminder.... I found out i was pregnant, went for a routine ultrasound and discovered a pregnancy sac measuring 6 weeks sadly the sac was empty.I was told to have another scan 4 weeks later as 6 weeks was still quite early to see, from that moment i knew that something was not quite right as my last period was 4 months previous so surely i shouldof been further than 6weeks! All in all i bled lightly for about 5 weeks but my midwife and doctor kept telling me this was ok!At my second scan 4 weeks later i was told that the pregnancy had ended and that the sac was still only measuring 6weeks.I was told that the sac had been there quite some time!! which is what i already knew as i stated before my last period was by now 5 months ago!! because of this i was told i would need it removed asap, some might not agree with my decsision but i wanted to miscarry natrually and be in the privacy of my own home,it was a long, sad wait but after just 2 days i did miscarry.unfortuantly though i had quite a tough time of it and was taken to hospital and was admitted for two days.Because this was my first miscarrage they did not give a diagnosis,so i am none the wiser as of why or how etc,but i am a strong believer that it happened for a reason and it was obviously a good reason.Luckily i do have a 4 year old son already and ive never looked at it like this but he truley is a gift.
One good thing has come out of this though and that is i am still realeasing eggs in the first place, having been diagnosed with polysystic ovaries doctors were unsure if i would be able to conceive naturally.I am sorry ive posted a sad note to you people who may be going through things similar, and i wish you all well in your pregnancies and future pregnancies.take care guys.x

I am concerned about my hcg levels. I found out pretty early that I was pregnant and the doctor has been doing beta hcg test on me twice a week for 3 weeks. This is my 3rd week. On September 7th my hcg levels were at 35 and then on September 9th they rose to 86. My progesterone levels were also tested and they were in the normal range. I am assuming over 20.
On September 13th my hcg levels rose to 338 and my progesterone levels were only at 12 and then on September 15th they only rose to 450. I went to the doctor on September 20th and he has requested another week of hcg testing. I went straight to the lab and my hcg levels were only 586.7. He says he can't see anything on a vaginal sonogram until my hcg levels reach about 2,000. If that is the case then I will probably never get there. Is there any hope that this pregnance is a viable pregnancy?

Emily - September 23rd, 2005 8:19 PM

Hi everyone. I have a similar situation. I had a miscarriage on 8/26. I only found out I was pregnant via a hcg test on 8/22 and my level was only 6.7. On 8/26th I started cramping/bleeding and my level was 6.2. I went back a week later after the bleeding stopped and it was down to 5.8. I went back TWO weeks later and they were up to 11.8. The Dr. is not sure why or if this is a new pregnancy. If it is new I would only be a week along- which makes sense. But I've took a hpt 6 days after my blood test and still getting negative results. I am concerned because I thought my levels should have doulbed enough to show on a hpt by now. Any thoughts? Has this happened to anyone- levels go down then rise and it was a new pregnancy?

Missy - September 24th, 2005 4:25 PM

I just wanted to let everyone know not to give up hope. Get those second opinions... I didn't register positive on a hpt until I was 11 weeks pregnant! My hcg #'s were so low, but I ended up delivering a very healthy baby boy! Don't give up just yet, seek that second doctors opinion.

Emily - September 24th, 2005 6:02 PM

Missy- when did you actually find out you were pregnant? What was your level then? Thanks.

Missy - September 24th, 2005 6:11 PM

Hi Emily! I found out I was pregnant when I was 11 weeks pregnant. I went to my doctors and asked for a hpt from them too. My doctor didn't think I would be pregnant because I was on strict b/c. Well, he came back with my test results and was completly flabbergasted! I don't know what my levels (#'s) were because here in Canada, they frown on you if you get a blood test, unless it's for VERY SERIOUS situations. *shakes head* I would think that conferming your intuition that you might be pregnant would be important. I just about gave up testing until one day I decided to buy yet another hpt. And that's when it came up positive! Hope that helps.

Danielle - September 27th, 2005 10:57 PM

Well even though i've been trying to keep my hopes low this page has given me a little bit. April 25 I was 6 1/2 months pregnant. That morning i started to bleed out and rushed to the ER needless to say my daughter had already passed and i had to continue with the labor knowing i could possibly die due to the blood loss and a BP of 190/178 During that time i found out my kidneys had gone into failure and they found 3 blood clotting conditions, it didn't look good for me but i thought positive and pulled myself out. My kidneys are almost back to normal function and we're working on getting my blood normal. Naturally I had sex one time since then and the condom broke. I was paranoid since the medication i was on could harm the baby. So i took a test. It came back positive. A week later i started bleeding (mind you i still haven't had a normal cycle since the loss) i didn't think too much of it at first since i was on the blood thinners and i hadn't really stopped bleeding since my loss. They tested my hcg and it was 128 to 74 to 72 to 156 to 317 to 348 its been one hell of a rollercoaster because all i really hear from any doctors is "I don't know" one doctor was quick to give me the medication to expel everything from my uterus... i got a second opinion, it wasn't worth the risk or losing another child. come to find out that medication would have sent me back into kidney failure. This page and the few promising stories are helping me keep my faith and hopes up. I know the odds are against me but i'm going to get hurt anyway and positive thinking and God kept me from death once before maybe it will save me again. Good luck to everyone and I'm sorry for those who have lost a child, it hurts, i know, just keep your head up and move on... never forget... but progress in your life.
